Orchid OXT Staking / Bandwidth selling?

Orchid is a new decentralized service that uses the OXT token to power a VPN service; one buys OXT (unfortunately at the moment only available from Coinbase), and uses that to buy bandwidth a la carte on the Orchid network. What I've gleaned from Coinbase earn is that on the network end, you need to stake Orchid in order to sell bandwidth, and that the more OXT you stake, the higher the network ranks you to sell bandwidth. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time finding any more documentation on selling bandwidth than that. Is there anyone with a firmer idea on how much OXT needs to be staked (e.g. at minimum) and what you'd need to run in order to sell bandwidth?

There's No Logic Behind Most Crypto Economics

the more I learn about cryptocurrencies, the more I can't understand their logic. Look at the biggest altcoin foundations. Ethereum foundation, litecoin foundation, IOTA foundation, and even a for-profit Ripple company. Like, literally, every single one of them has a very flawed business model. Their entire existence depends on dumping their own tokens. I mean, WTF. what makes them think this is a sustainable business model?Imagine if Microsoft's business model is just dumping MSFT stock, would they survive? Imagine if Apple's business model is not selling iphones but AAPL stock. That's how cryptocurrency companies work. Dumping their own tokens to the bagholders without any consistent source of income. WTF...Why can't they think of a better business model?

Richard Heart is now censoring his Hex community

I hate to give this project more PR but I think it's worth mentioning what's been going on recently in the Hex communities.Richard setup a TG for Hex and several related sub categories, one of which being HexBad. The premise of this group was to show that he allowed people to criticise, hate and even fud Hex which he would argue against in another channel "HexFud".In theory this seems like a reasonable thing to do and shows he's willing to answer to challenges regarding Hex. Over time however this group become the most popular to the point even Richard was a regular. I noticed however a lot of critical regulars were disappearing to the point that most comments were new users. It turns out very recently the moderators (assuming RH) have been disabling comments and/or banning lots of members. Most likely this has been going on all along, of course, basically curating the narrative of Hex criticism. This does seems like a coordinated move and begs the question, why start limiting peoples discussion now?I figured it's worth bringing this up just in case there's going to be an exit, also it's worth letting people know that he's actively trying to limit people from posting undesirable comments about the project.

What are some crypto projects we can use NOW?

I'm curious. Back when I was really into the crypto scene a few years ago, a lot of the projects' prime focus is on their ROI or how you can participate in the PoW to decentralize, but not a lot of services that you can actually use without at least considerable amount of technical acumen. What are some examples of crypto-centric projects that have hit the consumer phase? Excluding payment and remittance solutions which are....really unimaginative.Off the top of my head the only thing I can think of is Brave Browers, but even then a lot of the advertisement I get from the browser just links me to another "get-rich-quick" scheme like "crypto-banks" (yeah sure I'll trust that) or gambling sites.BurstCoin and Storj, they were pretty imaginative! Tho Google Drive and DropBox seems to have them beat in terms of ease of use so it doesn't really incentivize the average user into using it.Any other examples of crypto-projects that have hit the mainstream market that you can use right now?

Request for Critique (Plus potentially useful info for others): Detailed Hardware Wallet Comparison Page & Spreadsheet

So I have a fairly small YouTube channel that looks a cryptocurrency stuff. Mostly to do with how to keep yourself safe as well as how to help you use tools to recover if you stuff up with your seed phrase.Part of this is that I am getting an increasing stream of queries from folk about "which hardware wallet should I get", as well as seeing that question asked around Reddit from time to time. I had a look and most of the comparisons, especially those on YouTube, are really superficial, sometimes straight-up wrong...Basically I am putting together a bit of a comparison list that will both form a bit of an objective framework for reviews (As to avoid the "oh yea it's shiny and feels nice to hold" kind of commentary) as well as a way to include some fairly detailed feature information, as well as brief commentary about what these features are. (a few sentences per features)I have put it here: https://ift.tt/2u17fR3 which basically gives you the "summary" as the initial view, with the fuller spreadsheet here: https://ift.tt/2MAb8Td I just knocked this first draft out thisarv and am wondering if folks had suggestions about "features" that I had missed in my first pass or anything else like that. The hope is that it would be accessible enough for folk who post on /r/bitcoinbeginners (in terms of offering explanations about the stuff, with videos to come later) but also useful enough for someone who has been in the space for a year or so. (in terms of specific, technical info)I am happy to add other wallets later, but am basically limiting it to product categories that I have either used directly or indirectly. (So not just consolidating info from a bunch of websites) So far this includes products that I have purchased from Ledger, Trezor, Keepkey, Coldcard and SafePal.

The story about the easiest money I ever made

Here's a story about a time it felt like I had basically found a money printing machine. It was a method of consistently earning money with very little effort. It happened sometime 2017 or 2018, during the height of the last crypto craze. And no, although I did make money riding the rally, that's not what I'm talking about. I was profiting not only in terms of fiat, but also in terms of crypto. This was during the height of the EtherDelta decentralized exchange, and that exchange was the key to the method. The special thing about EtherDelta was that you could place several orders using the same balance. For example, if you had 1 ETH in the smart contract, you could in theory place a buy order worth 1 ETH on every single token on the exchange. The only thing that happened if two orders were filled at the same time, was that one of them would fail.So I figured I could use that feature to just place a bunch of lowball buy offers on various coins. I cast a wide net, but targeted trading pairs with decent activity (orders being made every day or so at least), but also high spread, so that I could place a buy order that was the best offer available even though it was still lowballing. And after doing this to a number of pairs, many of the orders were soon filled. Then, I just did the same thing but with a sell order instead. I had the best sell order on the book, but because of the spread it was still 10-20% higher than what I had just bought the tokens for.And then I just did it again. And again. I was constantly on the lookout for suitable trading pairs with enough spread. Soon I wrote a script that regularly checked the etherdelta API to automatically report such pairs to me. It almost seemed to good to be true, because it just kept working. My balance was growing, and it didn't feel like luck because the growth was so steady and consistent.Of course there were some botched trades, where after I had bought the price sunk so that my sell order didn't hit for a long time. But in surprisingly many cases, even those tokens did eventually come back up and my sell order was hit at a profit after all. Sometimes not though. I remember one token, Windy (WND). The etherdelta page looked perfect, good spread but good volume. So I made a buy order and it was filled. But my sell order just wouldn't fill, even though plenty of similar sell orders were. And the price kept falling. Eventually I realized that I had been had. It was a scammer that had faked the entire orderbook, creating volume by selling to himself in order to lure people like me into buying for real. But I didn't even mind much, because the steady flow of successful trades drowned out cases like that.Unfortunately, Etherdelta was having trouble. The website was loading very slowly, sometimes not at all, as some of you may remember. And at one point, the original creator sold the site to a third party, who took the website down for weeks IIRC. There was a forked frontend, Forkdelta, but it was already too late: The exchange was slowly but surely abandoned by its users and the volume dried up. So of course the strategy stopped working, only a month or two after I had discovered it. During that time, I had profited about 17.5 ETH. That's not so much today, but at that time it was worth around 17k USD. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if Etherdelta didn't die. Could this strategy have continued to be viable indefinitely? If we extrapolate, that would have given me a yearly wage of like $100k, not bad for what only took an hour or so of work per day.

Crypto.com: Any thoughts?

I decided to put some thoughts together after my experience using Crypto dot com (CDC). I didn't really manage to find many reviews and breakdowns before joining the platform myself, so thought it might be helpful to those considering joining to be able to see all their offerings in one go since they also don't have a lot of this info easily accessible. If you have experience using them and have your own thoughts, feel free to chime in.Review Link: HEREI'll summarize most of my thoughts - I think they have a great product, one of the best app UXs I've had the pleasure of using that trumps the competition (like Celsius). The In-App Support feature is also unrivaled, and blows me away that you can speak to a live-human in app within minutes. The Cashback on the debit card is a nice feature, and tho, I'd personally prefer receiving cash or btc directly as opposed to MCO, it is a great way to increase your exposure passively as you go about your day especially if you believe in CDC and their future. I do wits they had an auto-top up feature allowing users to auto-convert your crypto when you spend. It takes an adjustment using basically a prepaid debit card and loading up funds before purchase, making sure you don't go over available balance. As far as an all in one ecosystem goes, they've largely succeeded in creating a seamless user experience and having industry-leading interest rates in their Earn program doesn't hurt. I'm a big fan of lending out crypto to earn interest, I've like to know more about what they do with our crypto since earning 12% on stablecoins is unheard of (with MCO staked) the closest being blockfi at 8.6% - I can't imagine it will last for much longer. Adding the new crypto exchange was definitely a surprise and I have concerns they maybe spreading themselves thin a bit. There are many other milestones and promise that have yet to be met, so I hope this doesn't cause them to fall behind even more. The MCO staking requirements for various services, especially the Debit Card maybe a hard pill to swallow for more casual users who aren't as crypto inclined (minor speed bump to adoption - and yes I know the free midnight blue is an option). I think the idea of putting a couple hundred dollars on the line with a largely unknown company like CDC in return for $50 does sounds like a great deal for some like those who were already planning on getting MCO card anyways - but it simply doesn't compare to say applying for a checking account/debit card at a globally recognized bank with similar perks...overall a hard-sell for the masses (too early) at this stage unless you're a true crypto fan or just really want free netflix and spotify I don't see regular folks joining up anytime soon. That being said, in due time, if CDC continues its domination and expansion into new global markets with no issues, I'm sure their reputation will grow with it.Kris has mentioned they will be fully profitable by 2020, which is good news as many were curious how they were able to afford many of the perks they provide their users - again, no figures to backup the claim so we'll have to take his word for it. I do hope they become more transparent with their platform performance and figures, but we'll see if they ever do.Kris has also mentioned developing DEFI solutions for many of their products that would allow users to retain keys to their crypto which would be a fantastic step forward and could be a turning point if it does come to fruition for many other platforms to follow suit. The addition of the native currency CRO in addition to the original MCO mucks up the waters a bit for me and has been a divisive topic for many early adopters. I don't personally see why it was necessary to create a new coin as opposed adding new features to MCO's token utility and developing both coins in tandem seems like a monumental task - hopefully the team is up for the challenge. But all in all a solid product that is bringing the heat to legacy banking (albeit piggybacking on Visa's infrastructure and reach ironically) - I hope to continue seeing improvements with their products in the months to come.If mass adoption is to become a reality, this is how it happens. For those considering CDC or already using their product whether it's their card or app. What are your thoughts? Positive or negative?

What does the Cryptocurrency space think about the fact that we already have totally free and instant transactions made possible by services like Zelle (built right into most banking apps). The only benefit most will see in crypto is the ability to transact internationally much easier.

And since international transactions are only needed by 0.01% of the population that’s not a huge selling point. Other than a speculative asset, what do you honestly think Bitcoin or any other crypto will be USED for?

Despite YouTube apology we should still be moving to decentralised platforms.

I see a lot of affected content creators saying that YouTube has apologised for the "mistake" of removing certain crypto related content.Despite this being a one off mistake, the community needs to shift to decentralised platforms such as LBRY, for the day when the apology does not come and it is not a mistake to censor our community.

For anyone that’s been here a while

Reflect on yourself how much you know about crypto now compared to how much you knew when you started. Then ask yourself how much has changed negatively “literally nothing”Now ask yourself how much progress has been made in the past 3-4 years it’s crazy how lost people get by following price constantly.Adoption is going to be achieved over time, and worrying about price has nothing to do with the latter, if you want to be a part of an emerging technology, you’ve already committed in some way don’t lose true sight following price action and end up cucking yourself out of once in a lifetime opportunity.

Youtube Have Removed My Crypto Videos, Tutorials, Explainers, Housing, Finance & Economics Content

For those that don't know me I run Australia's largest crypto channel. I've been advocated for crypto adoption in Australia since 2012. Today I woke up on Xmas to a strike warning from Youtube for harmful or dangerous content. Checked my email, nothing. A few hours later after Xmas lunch, another strike. I hadn't even done anything on Youtube since the first strike. Still no email. I cover a lot of topics related to finance, economics, housing market, stocks as well as crypto related content. We don't do paid ICO or token promotion. I have done tutorials on leverage trading platforms. I'm really not sure what to do. If the trend continues most crypto youtubers will be affected. I get there's plenty of bad guys out there, but there's plenty of good ones who have been big advocates for Bitcoin & crypto for years. Wish us luck...https://twitter.com/AlexSaundersAU/status/1210100907909750784Edit: Yes I already post to & support decentralised platforms but the fact is users aren't there yet.

https://ift.tt/2ER2Emq sure if people noticed this or knew about this in advanced but Binance has added the Turkish Lira (TRY) and the Russian Rubble (RUB) on their exchange. Weird they did this on Christmas day.So did some digging around:https://ift.tt/2PYO6rA seems advcash concept is pretty cool BUT...its still 'coming soon' for the public. How can the wallets then be used to deposit Russian Ruble? Do people know more about this? What is Advanced Cash too? How/why are they facilitating this payment with Binance? The concept seems pretty cool (a universal wallet, connecting all fiat worldwide with/through crypto), but at the same time it can be abused easily (i.o.w. scammers, unloading money).

Following the HEX scam? Just under 800 Eth have been withdrawn and sent 770 to Binance or Bitfinex. The exit part of the scam appears to have commenced.

Here's the address that received all the 'transformed eth' and its transactions out: https://ift.tt/397K6MJ eth went out yesterday, and straight into bitfinex a few minutes later. There's still over 46,000 eth that can be withdrawn and liquidated by whoever controls this address, but Richard Heart, who created the contract says nobody needs to know who that is.The Hex token itself trades for between 1 and 2 satoshis and its issuance price has gone from 47,000 hex per Eth on day one to 900,000 hex per Eth as of the last issuing day.I can only hope that most of the eth still going in to this venture is from Richard himself to make it seem like there is continued demand for this token, but it's sad to see how many people fell for this despite all the warnings.

Tax Loss Harvesting?

Do you have experience with tax loss harvesting? Should I do it? Should I not? Assume I have all losses in my portfolio, as I will continue to hodl my gains. For Reference:I initially purchased a good amount of various crypto in 2017. Let’s say $5k worth, for ease of numbers. Now let’s say through various losses, some gains, other losses, I now have a portfolio worth about $2000.Should I harvest these losses? Will it do me any good? I am not reporting any gains, as I do not have any. Is there any value to reporting these losses? Will this lower my federal/state tax implication, or does it simply reduce the amount owed on capital gains?Thank you in advance, hopefully this post helps others.

Gaming DApps, which chain and why?

EOS isn't really a contender anymore so the main ones are ETH and TRON.I always thought of ETH as having a more corporate use-case whereas TRON was a bit more fun to use with all the gaming DApps. ETH did have the biggest gaming DApp ever though, FOMO3D (which was sick IMO) until it crashed the entire blockchain.TRON get's a lot of hate but I think it's undeserved, a big DApp launch would do them wonders IMO. Something on the scale of FOMO.Thoughts?

Centralized exchanges must go

There’s way to much weight on these centralized exchanges for them to properly protect themselves. Not only that some exchanges store users assets improperly and leads to significant loss of funds. Every time millions are stolen it effects the whole community and i don’t see why DEXs don’t have more volume than they do. Besides low liquidity every time I’ve used a DEX it has worked perfectly.

Exposing how the HEX origin address gets paid a massive bonus. TWICE!

I tried to have an open mind in regards to HEX, but something is not sitting right with me and I feel I have to speak out about it. My investigation started when someone in Richard Heart (RH)'s own Hexbad telegram channel posted etherscan.io hashes showing daily payouts to the Origin Address(OA) in the excess of 520 million hex. The closeness of that number to the daily amount being paid out in the Adoption Amplifier(AA) caused people to suspect that a copy of the AA funds were also being sent to the OA. This is something that is not supposed to be happening according to RH's explanation of the code design. Upon further investigation it turned out that these 520+ million HEX payments to the OA were not coming from the AA, but rather it's a daily payout from the "We are all Satoshi" (WaaS) bonus directly to the OA. This bonus is essentially all of the unclaimed HEX that is to be paid out proportionally to all stake holders after the initial BTC free claim and AA phase is over with. Since a copy of all bonuses and penalties in HEX get paid to the OA, this bonus is also being paid proportionally on a daily basis to the OA which amounts to about 520 million HEX per day. So if you take a step back and are following along at home, approx 520 million HEX is being minted each day to real people donating their ETH to the project, and another 520 million HEX is getting sent straight to the OA on top of a copy of all of the other bonuses that are also going straight to the OA address. As we all know, this is in addition to the flush address getting all the donated ETH free and clear. Now if that doesn't seem unbalanced enough... it gets worse. I wondered what happens when the OA stakes this free daily HEX. Does that give it a bigger share of The BigPayDay bonuses including the WaaS bonus of which a copy was already paid to the OA? When I asked RH directly about this in telegram his response was that the OA only gets paid the bonus once and does not get any interest from staking... HOWEVER... As RH admitted on a livestream yesterday what has the OA been doing with it's HEX tokens? In RH's own words "It's moved it to 10 or 12 different addresses, and those addresses have staked for mostly 10 years." What this effectively means is that those same HEX tokens in the OA that were created as a copy of the WaaS bonus out of thin air, are now being staked for 10 years in other addresses, and YES these address will get another chunk of the WaaS bonus + interest that is meant to benefit all of the other HEX stakers. When I came back to Richard and asked him about this a second time he admitted that this is true, and I have all of the chat screenshots to prove it. When I asked him if he thought this design was problematic he chose to ignore me and respond to another troll in the chat rather than respond to my valid criticism of his project. My final response to him was this:"Why are you responding to the troll and not my honest criticism. At this point I'm beginning to shift and see that the point of HEX is to enrich you and a select group of your friends. Wealth is being sucked from the masses into your pockets, and you are ok with this. Its looking less altruistic and more greedy day by day as I learn more of the inner workings of HEX"*crickets*

I can't believe this shit is happening all over again, and I can't believe people actually have already given Richard Heart over 5.65 million dollars in Ethereum for this blatantly obvious Ponzi scheme. If you want to check out the article, copy and past the link below:Copy And Paste in Google ---> finance.yahoo.com/news/infamous-bitconnect-shill-trevon-james-120044425

Theory: I think Richard Heart knows he's going to prison for creating Hex, but in the end he will most likely make an estimated 10 million dollars or more in Ethereum deposits once Hex implodes, so he doesn't really care if he does 2 or 3 years in the clink.

What do you guys think, am I probably on the right track with my theory?I mean Richard is the face of Hex, unlike BitConnect who was run by a bunch of Indians who were smart enough to use a shill marketing network as the face of the company, and used fools like Trevon James and Craig Grant to do most of their marketing, and who also took the fall once the Ponzi scheme exited.Richard is literally video documenting his scam all over the internet for the world to have on record, especially the powers that be such as the (FTC) Federal Trade Commission and the (IRS) Internal Revenue Service. I mean the guy is literally dead to rights... your thoughts?

Don't ever believe the BS that Bitcoin is in a bubble. The financial system and fiat is in the mother of all bubbles and that's just the US dollar. The whole world will go down with the next collapse.

Why isn't HEX illegal? Will Richard Heart go to prison eventually?

I finally had a look at how HEX works today and its a blatant ponzi, the likes of which are illegal in the US. Hex's creator Richard Heart also appears to be from the US – although perhaps does not reside there any longer?Furthermore the marketing materials such as this video a blatantly deceitful to trick users into trading ETH for HEX, when the instructions never mention a trade, or loss of ETH.It makes me so upset that this sort of behaviour is able to go unpunished. Looking at ETH deposits so far it looks like an enormous amount of people have already been scammed. Every piece of scum like Richard Heart, that goes unpunished, sets the industry back several steps every time. Making it harder and harder to earn legitimacy in the future.I really wish there was a sizeable crypto firm that had the public interest in mind, that would go after him and get him locked up.

None of the Bitcoin projects are actually Bitcoin.

None of the Bitcoin projects are actually Bitcoin. I can say that simply and categorically because 'what Bitcoin is' was laid out clearly and simply in the Bitcoin white paper entitled "Bitcoin: A peer to peer electronic cash system". The clue is in the title. It's electronic cash.So why is BTC, BCH, BSV etc etc not electronic cash? Well, let's take a look at the properties of cash. Wiki lists the properties as being Fungibility, Durability, Portability, Cognizability and Stability. So let's look at fungibility. Fungibility means all coins are of equal value. If a coin/address can have a history then it isn't fungible. Fungibility in Blockchain requires privacy by default at the base layer.People mistakenly use fungibility to mean 'cleaned'. But if you think about it, the fact that coins might need to be cleaned (ie they weren't of equal value) shows the currency to not be fungible.Do any of the Bitcoin projects pass the fungibility test? No, categorically and emphatically no. We've already seen freshly minted BTC commanding a higher price than circulated BTC. Also we've seen circulated BTC trade for less than market value on DEXs like Bisq. Why is fungibility important? Well, fungibility ensures that a merchant can confidently accept a coin, and that when he goes to spend it, he isn't told that actually that particular coin is tainted and is infact worth significantly less than market value (or confiscated outright). So why don't any of the Bitcoin projects switch to private by default to become sound money?Well a number of reasons. Firstly, it would require a hardfork, something a lot of OG bitcoiners would consider an action of last resort. A change like this would break a lot of the existing infrastructure (wallets etc) that have been built on the transparent blockchain technology.Secondly, people are fearful that a 'private by default' Bitcoin would become a target for regulators. That it would be banned. "But surely the whole cypherpunk ethos of Bitcoin is decentralized censorship resistance?" It was in it's beginning, however over the years (and the increase in price) it has become more centralized, and more utilized as a speculative vehicle than an actual government resistant currency. A lot of people's fortunes and security are tied up in Bitcoin continuing to raise steadily in value. Even the hint of a regulatory crackdown wouldn't sit right with them at all.So the outcome? We have multiple projects that all claim to be Bitcoin, while infact none of them are. And while they all still might give you a return during the next speculative bullrun, the underlying utility that promised their future value is missing and unlikely to ever be reclaimed.

Unikoin Gold (UKG) Failure

Like a lot of Crypto's, this one has really shit the bed. I suppose what makes it the most infuriating isn't that:-It's down 93% from it's ICO-It was backed by celebrities and financiers in a legitimate fashion-It was a a build off of an existing platform and serviceWhat is the worst is that the reddit forum for it is moderated by Unikoin and they will ban you immediately for mentioning anything to do with the price, lack of development, etc. They claim they are still working on things and are not just a scam, yet they ban people who participated in their ICO.Just saying, I hate them more than crypto's that were 100% scams.

I bought $1000 worth of the Top Ten Cryptos on January 1st, 2019 (Nov. 2019 Update)

EXPERIMENT - Tracking Top 10 Cryptocurrencies of 2019 - Month Eleven - UP 10%Full blog post with all the tables**NOTE** - I'm on the fence whether or not to repeat the experiment yet again in 2020 with the new Top Ten. The problem is that there's not been a lot of movement, so not super interesting tracking the same coins at similar prices. I have some other ideas, but very open to suggestions: if you have any good ideas, please share them in the comments below. **END NOTE**tl;dr - After a breather in October, crypto is back to the summer's downward trajectory. Every 2019 Top Ten crypto 2019 was down in November except of course Tether. Bitcoin Cash and Ripple both struggled in November, down -27% and -25% respectively. Overall, BTC and Litecoin are still far ahead of their peers, up +93% and +49% respectively in 2019, while Stellar continues to be a drag on the overall return of portfolio, down -50% in 2019.The Experiment:Instead of hypothetically tracking cryptos, I made an actual $1000 investment, $100 in each of the Top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap as of the 1st of January 2018. I then repeated the experiment on the 1st of January 2019. Think of it as a lazy man's Index Fund (no weighting or rebalancing), less technical, more fun (for me at least), and hopefully still a proxy for the market as a whole - or at the very least an interesting snapshot of the 2019 crypto space. I am trying to keep this project simple and accessible for beginners and those looking to get into crypto but maybe not quite ready to jump in yet. I try not to take sides or analyze, but rather report and document in a detached manner letting the numbers speak for themselves. The Rules:Buy $100 of each the Top 10 cryptocurrencies on January 1st, 2019. Hold only. No selling. No trading. Report monthly. Compare loosely to the 2018 Top Ten Experiment.Month Ten - Up 10%November was the complete opposite of October:  100% of the Top Ten cryptos were in the green last month, 100% are in the red this month (except Tether of course, which is always flat). When Tether is the best performer, it signals a rough month for the 2019 Top Ten portfolio.Overall, the 2019 Top Ten portfolio is up +10% on the year.  For context, this same group of cryptos was up +114% at the peak in May 2019.  Additionally, the portfolio has fallen well behind the stock market as measured by the S&P 500 (see below).Ranking and November Winners and LosersNot much movement this month. Bitcoin Cash slipped back into the #5 slot. EOS and Tether both advanced a position (to#7 and #4, respectively) and that's it. Big picture, in the constantly shifting crypto landscape, it's a bit of surprise that nearly all of the coins that started in the Top Ten on January 1st, 2019 are still there (except Tron, which stands alone as a Top Ten dropout, replaced by Binance Coin). This is certainly different from the 2018 Top Ten Experiment where coins have fallen and fallen hard.November Winners - Winner, singular:  Tether.  A distant second is Stellar, down -17% in November. November Losers - Bitcoin Cash followed by Ripple, down -27% and -25% respectively.  For those keeping score, here is tally of which coins have the most monthly wins and loses during the first eleven months of this experiment: Tether has pulled ahead of Bitcoin and BTCSV. Bitcoin SV has the most monthly losses, finishing last in four out of the first eleven months of 2019.Overall update – Bitcoin maintains sizable lead over second place Litecoin. All cryptos in positive territory except Stellar, Ripple, and Tron.BTC and Litecoin are still far ahead of their peers, up +93% and +49% respectively in 2019. My initial $100 investment in Bitcoin is now worth $197.All Top Ten cryptos are still either flat or in positive territory except Stellar, Ripple and Tron. Stellar continues to be a drag on the overall return of the 2019 Top Ten portfolio, down -50% in 2019. Ripple and Tron follow down about -40% and about -20% respectively.Total Market Cap for the entire cryptocurrency sector:The crypto market gave up its October gains and then some as $50B was shed in November. The overall market cap now back to the $198B mark, last seen in May 2019. A bit of perspective: it still has been a very strong year for crypto overall.  The entire market cap is up +56% since the beginning of 2019.Bitcoin dominance:Bitcoin dominance decreased slightly in November.  The range this year has gone from a high of 70% in September 2019 to a low of 50% in March 2019.Overall return on investment from January 1st, 2019:If I cashed out the 2019 Top Ten portfolio today, my $1,000 initial investment would return $1,100, a +10% gain.I'm down significantly in my 2018 Top Ten Experiment. If I cashed that group out today, the $1000 initial investment would return about $150, down nearly -85%.Taken together, here's the bottom bottom line: after a $2000 investment in both the 2018 and the 2019 Top Ten Cryptocurrencies, my portfolios would be worth $1,250.That's down -37.5%.Implications/Observations:With the crypto market as a whole up +56% on the year, how have the 2019 Top Ten cryptos performed? Up a much lower +10%. As a reminder, in May 2019, the gains from the 2019 Top Ten and the entire market cap were both exactly the same: +114%. The last few months have seen that gap widen: for six straight months, focusing only on the Top Ten has been a losing strategy. This of course implies that I would have done a bit better if I'd picked a different group of cryptos. This is reminiscent of last year as at no point in the Top Ten 2018 Experiment did the Top Ten strategy outperform the overall market.I'm also tracking the S&P 500 as part of my experiment to have a comparison point with other popular investments options. The S&P 500 is up +24% since the beginning of 2019.  This is now more than double the +10% my 2019 Top Ten portfolio is returning.  Quite a turnaround from May of this year, when the Top Ten portfolio was up +114% compared to +10% for the S&P.So, the initial $1k investment I put into crypto would now be worth $1240 had it been redirected to the S&P 500.Conclusion:After a reprieve in October, crypto has resumed the slide it started in the summer.  Until recently, it looked like the 2019 Top Ten would easily outperform the market on the year, but that outcome is definitely in doubt now.  More telling, with only one month left in 2019, I'm no longer confident that the portfolio will at least break even: as of the end of November, the 2019 Top Ten portfolio only holds a slim +10% return, gains that can easily evaporate before the new year.If you're just finding this experiment now, here's the backstory: On the 1st of January, 2018, I bought $100 each of the Top Ten cryptos at the time for a total investment of $1000 to see how they would perform over the year. I tracked the experiment and reported each month. The result? I ended 2018 down -85%, my $1000 worth only $150.After last year's experiment ended, I decided to do two things:Extend the Top Ten 2018 Crypto project one more year. The experiment is now in its 23rd month. You can check out the latest update here. What you're reading now is the 11th report of a parallel project: this year I repeated the experiment, purchasing another $1000 ($100 each) of the new Top Ten cryptos as of January 1st, 2019.Thanks for reading and the support for the experiment. I hope you’ve found it helpful. I continue to be committed to seeing this process through and reporting along the way. Feel free to reach out with any questions and stay tuned for progress reports.Again: although I'm planning on continuing to track both the 2018 and 2019 Top Ten Cryptos next year, I'm undecided on whether or not to repeat the experiment yet again in 2020.  Please do leave your suggestions and ideas in the comments below.

Lisk lays off 21 of 53 employees

Approximately 40% of the employees working on the Lisk project were laid off on December 9th. Additionally, the contracts of three employees who were yet to join were also terminated.32 staff remain in the following departments:15 Development5 Research4 Operations4 Marketing2 Design2 Business DevelopmentMax Kordek, Co-Founder of Lisk, stated the following on Lisk's Discord:Today, at Lightcurve, we laid off 21 of our employees and terminated the contracts of three employees who were yet to join. This concludes the recent wave of terminations you may have observed. We are now ready to go completely dedicated into 2020 with a solid team of 31 individuals on the Lightcurve side. Our main focus was to retain our talents in the research, platform (backend development) and developer relations departments. While shrinking the size within user interfaces (frontend development), marketing, design and operations. The reasons were to decrease our burn rate which by a large degree consisted of human resources costs, and to decrease our operational overhead in order to become more agile again. We are looking forward to the next year. Some exciting things are coming.

3 months ago /u/OutPlayAsians offered a 3BTC bet that Binance would not launch in US before 2021. I took him up on that bet. He failed to honour it in good faith.

I had forgotten all about this until I was pinged in the daily thread to ask if he ever paid up. - https://ift.tt/2EaRKaU then I was mostly whatever about it and had zero interest in pursuing it, I just thought someone running their mouth on reddit. But he seems to have made an alt account and is trolling anyone calling him out on his shittiness, so I guess he's pushed me to reveal our full DMs on this. Here was the initial offer he made:https://ift.tt/2PeKIZd see I said I'd take up that bet and we can discuss the escrow etc in DM.Anyway, here is the full DM chain (me in pink, him in blue)https://ift.tt/2rFlr17
