A few days ago I sent a transfer of GBP from my bank account to my Coinbase account. This showed up in less than an hour as usual. Now when I go to Coinbase Pro and try to deposit the GBP from my Coinbase account it is telling me my funds are on hold. Now I am assuming this is just an internal transfer of my balance between the two sites and the funds are clearly not being *withdrawn* from the exchanges you own, so why this transfer is subject to this 5 day holding of funds is beyond me, apart from forcing users to buy on Coinbase with the huge fee's attached. Also beyond this any Crypto purchased with these funds is also subject to this 5 day holding. I can't even purchase the Crypto I wanted because it doesn't have a GBP pairing on Coinbase Pro so it isn't on the normal site.In the email confirming the deposit it says these are temporary delays but I've been emailing support about this issue and they dodge my questions every time. I asked is this a temporary change? If so when will services be back to normal? What is the reason for these changes, besides vague security? I have asked these questions 3 times now and it's the same copy paste response slightly changed each time. The fact they can't simply answer yes or no to the question is this change temporary probably infers our answer.I seriously hope this is temporary as this is a massive regression in speed and usability of the exchange. In the past I could deposit, transfer, trade and withdraw in under an hour. If this is the new norm then they have certainly lost my business and I'm sure many more. I don't know if Coinbase staff usually respond on Reddit but the support has been more than useless and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on the situation.
