Crypto News Recap: Cryptocurrencies are mixed as prominent crypto analyst Tom Lee says Ethereum has bottomed out and is set for a trend reversal

Crypto NewsAccording to the head of research at Fundstrat, Tom Lee, Ethereum is on the verge of a trend reversal that will see the altcoin rally up to USD$1,900 per token by the end of 2019. Tom Lee discussed in a note to clients of Fundstrat that Ethereum has experienced “overly negative” sentiment in 2018 and that will serve as a basis for its strong rebound to come. At the time of this writing, Ethereum is trading at USD$225 per token. An analysis conducted by blockchain data analyst, Antoine Le Calvez, reveals that an early miner of Bitcoin has managed to sell approximately 30,000 Bitcoin between December 2016 and January 2018. Calvez cites that this individual is likely one of the earliest miners of Bitcoin. Austria will issue 1.15 billion euros worth of government bonds in a federal bond auction that will utilize blockchain notarization. Overseeing the auction will be Austria’s Oesterreichische Kontrollbank (OeKB), who will leverage the public Ethereum blockchain to carry out the blockchain notarization. Chine city Nanjing’s arbitration body, the Nanjing Arbitration Committee, announced Thursday that its online blockchain platform for depositing and storing data in legal disputes has gone live for its testing phase. Users that can be upload data to the online blockchain platform includes evidence deposition platforms, financial institutions, and other arbitration committees. The system will allow parties to view digital evidence simultaneously over a tamper proof and distributed network. Despite China’s blanket ban on cryptocurrency trading and initial coin offerings (ICO), Chinese investors still have an easy time purchasing cryptos and ICOs. According to a report by Bitcoinist, Chinese investors can easily buy mainstream cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin by logging into a platform for over-the-counter transactions and using apps like WeChat or Alipay to pay. Chinese investors can also convert their fiat currency to stablecoin Tether by leveraging direct peer-to-peer transactions, which can then be used to buy cryptocurrencies. Swiss-based asset management firm, Tiberius Group AG, has announced that it will introduce a cryptocurrency backed by precious metals. Tiberius Group plans to issue their Tiberius Coin that will trade on a blockchain ledger and be tied to the price of copper, aluminum, nickel, cobalt, tin, gold, and platinum. CEO Giuseppe Rapallo said the Tiberius Coin will likely be offered at around USD$0.70 per token. The Tiberius Coin will be issued on LATOKEN, an Estonian exchange that meets “necessary regulatory standards.” The world’s first advanced blockchain identity laboratory and Europe’s first dedicated blockchain research facility launched in Eidinburgh, the capital of Scotland. Called the Blockpass Identity Lab, the blockchain research facility will focus on exploring ways blockchain technology can be implemented to protect personal data online. The blockchain research laboratory is part of a £600,000 joint venture between Hong Kong-based Blockpass IDN and Scottish University, Edinburgh Napier University. The United Nation’s Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and their Development Program (UNDP) are partnering with the nation of Sierra Leone and technology profit, Kiva, to develop and launch a blockchain-based identification system. The project aims to “modernize the credit bureau” with Sierra Leone being chosen because the country only has one credit bureau that serves just 2,000 people. 80% of Sierra Leone’s population is unbanked. The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) have announced they are suing 1Broker, a Marshall Islands-based securities dealer who allegedly violated federal laws through a bitcoin security swap scheme. The SEC is claiming that 1Broker is not a registered security-based swaps dealer while they also failed to list its security-based swaps on a national exchange. Investors were only able to purchase this product with Bitcoin. US based cryptocurrency exchange and wallet, Coinbase, has rolled out their new “Coinbase Bundles”, a product designed to simplify cryptocurrency trading. The Coinbase Bundle is a product that baskets five of the largest cryptocurrencies supported by Coinbase, including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Ethereum Classic. The Coinbase Bundle baskets these five cryptos in proportion with market capitalization with a minimum purchase size of USD$25. Zebpay, once India’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, gave just a few hours notice in announcing that it would be halting all trading services today. In a tweet, Zebpay said that it would halt its exchange service while cancelling all unexecuted orders while crediting the funds to users’ wallets. Zebpay cited in a blog post that this decision comes in wake of the ban by India’s central bank that prohibits domestic banks from offering financial services to crypto exchanges. Got a bit of a shock on the plane yesterday, I sat down next to a older guy who turned out to be 70 years young. I opened up Binance on my phone to check before the plane took off. The old guy turns to me and said , gone down a bit hasnt it , I replyed , its not the share market its Crypto. He then said I know, I own Bitcoin, Ripple, Salt and a few others. Its going to be the future he said. Turns out his step son had invested $5000 of his money 18 months ago, he went throught the bull run and his $5000 went to $450000. What are some low market cap coins you are investing in now?

Hello everyone. Hope this is allowed, haven't seen decent discussion in a while here and I would like to discuss with others some possible opportunities we have these days.I got into crypto early last year, and made majority of my stack hunting low market cap coins and trying to preserve the capital the best way I can. Like everyone else, I peaked in January, and lost 7 figures of my portfolio in next few months because underestimated the effect that bear market would have on alts. I rode few pumps back in May, major one being EOS, and almost reached ATH again, but by being too romantic about my investments I lost very good portion of it. I started taking things way more seriously 2 months ago and things are looking better than ever before. I made good portion of my stack riding things like HOT and Quant recently by getting in on ground floor. I could write 100 page essay on things I observed in this space, shilling, bagholders, corrupted exchanges... but the best advice I could give is to always get on ground floor and not on the peak of hype when something jumps 100-300%. Risk is much lower, and you can make much more money.I know that people who got into crypto this year will never believe that it is possible to make millions/few hundred thousand with very small amount of money, but it definitely is and I know people who are doing it now. We are getting relief pumps on both small and medium alts right now, and things are looking better. Volatility is at all time low on bitcoin and major alts, but there is still money to be made hunting riskier picks, and people who want to seize opportunity should be on lookout for them constantly.I am always researching, by looking at the team, community, token holders and addresses, potential catalysts etc, but unfortunately I can't look at every possible coin, so I would like to ask you, what are you currently invested in and why? What upcoming catalysts are on the horizon for your coin?I am very skeptical when it comes to investing in coins now, and sometimes I go a month without putting my money into anything. Right now I am 65% BTC and 35% SNTR, which is shitcoin I believe will blow up because of exchange listings, mainnet, masternodes and all upcoming shit they have. But I think we will be getting way way more IDEX pumps, and with Coinbase and alt season around the corner, now is the best time to start researching and investing in promising projects.What is your pick and why? I would really appreciate any answer, and if it is not something you would publicly share feel free to shoot me DM. I hope this discussion is allowed. Looking forward hearing your thoughts. By low market cap I mean below 5m$. Thanks again!

hey guys.I originally invested in cryptocurrency back in 2013, back then i was only 16 years old. The reason i started investing in cryptocurrencies was because of a guy i went to school with, his name was Adam. Adam had a dad working at a hedge fund and he was teaching Adam how to invest in stocks. This of cause peaked my interest as i heard Adam made some nice money when he invested with his dad. I worked a job in the supermarket and made a good salary, but in comparison to what Adam was reeking in, my salary seemed small.So as you could probably imagine i also wanted in on this. Sadly it was kinda problematic, as in my country there's an age requirement for entering the stock market, i had to be 18 years old or have my parents permission. My parents thought it was a bad idea so i could not invest.I became obsessed with finding a way to invest in something, i had my salary that would just sit in the bank at a 2% yield. So i started searching for alternative ways of investing and stumbled upon a website suggesting cryptocurrencies as a good alternative, i thought about it for a few months and in the end decided to make my first purchase in bitcoin.Shortly after i had invested i bought some altcoins in fact i actually went all in with my 3,500 usd i had saved up. As i was a kid i knew nothing about risk management and probably didn't care for what i bought, i most likely just wanted to see it increase in price. My coins of choice were Megacoin, Nexus, Quark and XRP.The problem is this is when it all starts getting vague. You see not too long after i made my cryptocurrency investment, i got a major head injury from playing Golf. I was playing golf with my family and as my big brother swung his golf club backwards he hit me right in the head, i passed out and was droven to the hospital.At first when i woke up in the hospital bed i had almost forgotten who i was, everything seemed strangely distant, but after some days or weeks some of my memory came back to me, yet there's like this black hole in my memory, kinda like how it feels when you've been drunk and you don't remember what you did last night, to me it also affected my long term memory so most of the llast half year leading up to the incident was gone. I remembered close to nothing and what i did remember was very vague, it got better over time but still today my memory is filled with black holes. I got diagnosed with TBI. Today i am in fine condition as my TBI luckily wasn't sewere, but there's still things i can't remember and the doctor told me i most likely never will.The problem here was that i had totally forgotten about my crytocurrencies, i do not even remember why i bought the altcoins i did and didn't even know which websites i had bought them on. I would look at my bank account and see several withdraws amounting up to a total of 3500 usd over a relatively short period of time and had no idea what i had spend the money on, which made me kinda panic. I asked my family if they knew anything and no one could tell me except anything, except for my sister that said i had been talking unusual much about investing. Later on i got some money from the insurance company, yet it was a sorry very small amount compared to my injury, i got what would be equal to 9,850 usd for my brain injury. After some time i forgot about the withdrawals in my bank account and continued on with my life, which was centered around rehabilitation the first year. Today my life is mostly normal even though my memory suffers at times.But the reason i came here is not so that you can feel sorry for me, i came here because recently i was moving out, and as i cleaned out in my room i stumbled upon a piece of paper with lots of codes written on it and some names for a few websites. After looking into it i discovered it was cryptocurrency coding and suddenly my brain made the connections with the withdraws in my bank.I gained acces to the most of my accounts but still can't access this exchange named Kapiton, i did some research and found out they had exit scammed. But i got access to my XRP and NXT and were euphoric to see my wallet balance, they had increased exponentially in value, my megacoin had lost almost all their value and so had my Quark. Today i have around 130,000 us dollars to invest.I have done some research on the cryptocurrency space and came to the conclusion that DAG coins might do well, so i wanted to hear if you'll have any good DAG coin suggestionsI'll check back tomorrow as i got a long day.TL;DR16 year old boy in 2013 Got interested in stocks but people below 18 in my country can't invest, so i instead stumbled upon Cryptocurrencies in 2013 and bought some. Had a head injury a few months later, and got diagnosed with TBI resulting in both short and long term memory loss. I had forgotten everything about cryptocurrencies and apparantly told no one about it, only to find an old paper with written code on it 2.5 months ago as i was moving out of my old room.

US Congressman Tom Emmer announced late Friday that he will introduce a trio of cryptocurrency and blockchain related bills as cryptocurrencies fell lower this weekend after posting significant gains last week

Crypto News A research report authored by Weiss Ratings, a provider of market research on stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, and cryptocurrencies, makes a bold prediction saying Bitcoin will lose half of its market share to Ethereum within five years. The research report cites that Bitcoin is a, “one trick pony” while Ethereum’s superior blockchain does not limit the cryptocurrency in any sense. After receiving some negative feedback from investors, Weiss Ratings clarified via tweet that they see an, “Ethereum-like platform dominating the market – not necessarily Ethereum itself.” According to a report by Bloomberg, Brazil’s largest independent broker, Grupo XP, is launching a cryptocurrency exchange in the coming months. Grupo XP announced this move as Brazil may be on the brink of eased cryptocurrency regulations after Brazil’s regulatory agency announced last week it is investigating the country’s largest banks for allegedly halted the service to cryptocurrency related firms. Approximately 3 million Brazilians own cryptocurrencies while just 600,000 have holdings in stocks. After Bitcoin developers reported of a patch in Bitcoin Core to fix a bug that could bring down a large chunk of the network, an official Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) report revealed that the bug was more serious than initially let on. According to the CVE report, an attacker could have exploited the bug to create new Bitcoin, thereby inflating the 21-million coin supply and devaluing current Bitcoins. Over half of Bitcoin miners have updated to the new software patch meaning users can no longer exploit this bug. Cryptocurrencies and their blockchains have observed more “down-time” in 2018 than ever before. After Steemit, a blockchain-based blogging platform that pays content creator in cryptocurrencies, went down for multiple hours on September 17th, Coindesk released an article discussing the increased down-time cryptocurrencies and their blockchains have observed in 2018. Coindesk’s article details that new and innovative consensus protocols, such as varied versions of Proof of Stake, have contributed to causing increased blockchain downtimes due to experimental protocols and unforeseen issues with these experimental protocols. Dubai’s Department of Finance (DoF) announced yesterday that it has partnered with the Smart Dubai Office (SDO) to launch a blockchain-powered government payment system. Reported by local news outlet, Zawya, the platform, dubbed, Payment Reconciliation and Settlement, launched yesterday and enables government entities to conduct real-time payments between each other and within government structures while providing more transparency. Erik Voorhees, CEO of cryptocurrency exchange ShapeShift, said that the exchange’s decision to begin collecting IDs from users was proactive and a necessary step to reduce legal risks. The decision came as Shapeshift was facing warnings from regulators to begin adhering to Know-Your-Customer regulations. Ethereum developers and miners have come together to stop specialized mining hardware from operating on its network. After a new application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) was announced last Thursday, developers and mines have become vocal about ASICs effectively pushing out smaller miners from being able to operate. Members of the Ethereum community have called on developers to implement measures against ASIC mining in the Ethereum blockchain, as many believe ASICs can dominate a mining community and force decisions upon a coin. Iceland’s cryptocurrency industry may be moving away from a mining focus and moving towards a pure blockchain focus. Halldor Jorgenson, chairman of Borealis Data Center in Reykjavik, told news outlet Red Herring that demand from local cryptocurrency firms is shifting more towards pure blockchain. Iceland has become a popular area for mining due to its cold climate and cheap electricity, however, Icelandic industry experts have cited that a blockchain focus is better for the long-term future. In relation to the probe against Amit Bhardwaj and his alleged Bitcoin Ponzi fraud, Indian police authorities have seized USD$60 million of assets associated with the scheme. The Ponzi scheme was responsible for stealing roughly USD$5.26 billion from over 8,000 people. Opera is launching a special edition of its Labs desktop browser today that will feature a functional built-in crypto wallet. Announced in early August, the special edition of Labs opened today for private beta testers. According to a blog-post shared with Cointelegraph, Labs will enable users to authenticate Web 3.0 and dApp transactions made on their computer using their Android phone. Tom Emmer, a member of US Congress, is sponsoring a trio of blockchain-focused bills that aims to support the development and use of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. The first of the three bills addresses regulatory frameworks around cryptocurrencies and blockchain. The second bill ensures cryptocurrency miners would not be required to register as money transmitters. The third bill would protect tax payers in reporting revenue from tokens that resulted from a hardfork. Emmer’s announcement of these three bills came Friday, the same day he was named a co-chair of the Congressional Blockchain Caucus. Polymath and the POLY token swindle

As someone invested in the POLY token for a while and followed the project closely since December, I decided to make a post of how the Polymath team slowly backed away from the utility of the POLY token, robbing early buyers of the token to fund their (admittedly, very elegantly coded and overall awesome - thats the last good thing I'll say) STO platform.The reason for originally investing in the POLY token was simple... because I recognized Security Tokens as the future and their White Paper mentioned that the Polymath platform would make it extremely easy to launch an SEC compliant STO token. Also in section 7 of the whitepaper was the POLY token utility, where it was described as a national currency and the Ethereum of STOs"POLY token allows value created in the system to be captured by the systemitself. Just as almost all countries have their own currency, requiring thesetransactions to be in POLY sets up incentives to remain in the system. If alltransactions were in ether (the native currency of Ethereum), then participantswouldn’t be storing value in the Polymath platform. By requiring that peoplehold (and transact) in POLY, participants become subject to the same forces ofincentivization that have helped ecosystems like Ethereum (and many so called“alt-coins”) explode into active and diverse communities so that their productscan remain viable and useful."The WP link is archived here - https://ift.tt/2NAEW4L archived it since Chris Housser their co-creator and Graeme their VP of marketing like to delete a lot on the PolymathNetwork subreddt.At this point, I think it's important to consider context - it was December 2017, peak FOMO and ICO craze, and they're comparing Polymath and STO issuance to Ethereum and ICO issuance. They are very clear that not only is POLY the "required" token of the network, but that the system would have incentives similar to Ethereum. I note this because they are not just talking about "fees," otherwise the comparison would be to GAS or GWEI. Like ICOs on ETH, the expectation is clear - POLY tokens will be needed to issue STOs.Last month came an announcement that 6 STOs would soon launch on the network, but 5 of them would be raising funds in BTC, ETH, and fiat (not even a POLY options), and only 1 would have POLY as an option in addition to ETH.When challenging this as a point of deviation form their White Paper in a recent and now-deleted post on Polymathnetowrk subreddit https://ift.tt/2DlxKok I was told that was never the case and that my reading comprehension of the white paper was wrong.In this now deleted post, Chris Housser speaks out of both sides of his mouth by trying to claim to me that "The rules have never changed" in regards to allowing funds other than POLY be raised, that it has always been that way. However, he also debates with another user that "constant changes" should be accepted and compared building Polymath to building Rome. So did it stay the same, or did market realities cause them to make an unannounced change? He can't keep it straight.Digging deeper, I looked into CORL, their first announced STO. Way back in December their partnership was announced, and in February they announced that the STO offering would take place in March or April. Due to the bear market, they delayed it https://ift.tt/2Ny1l2H if the STO was originally scheduled for March, and "allowing" other funds be used for Security Token issuance, that would be one thing and acceptable had it been transparent and explained. Perhaps some honesty and a mitigating token burn or delay of their massive POLY token inflation (280K current supply, so 720K being released in the next year) would be enough.The problem is that their GitHub reveals that issuance funding only allowed ETH until June 18th, when they FINALLY allowed fundRaiseType to also be in POLY. So this deviation from the White Paper happened a long time ago, even before the bear market or "market realities" would inform them otherwise. https://ift.tt/2DoctdU Chris's claim to me that "the rules never changed" were true, then why was the fundRaiseType parameter updated? If his "accept constant changes" comment were true, then it would be the other way around - POLY coded in first and then ETH. So neither of his contradictory explanations are true.Ok, so lets ignore all context for now and say fund issuance was never a form of utility for POLY. They very clearly say it is "Required" for "all transactions." If fund issuance isn't a transaction (try raising funds in yuan in USA and tell the government that isn't a transaction of any kind, by the way), there are still KYC fees which is extremely explicit in the White Paper that those will ONLY be transacted in POLY. Notice how that question never gets answered in the above deleted post, and the post is deleted right after the question is asked?Since PolyMath won't answer the question, I asked BlockEstate, one of their STO partners. Not only did they confirm POLY isn't accepted for their STO, but KYC fees are "details still being worked out." What is there to work out if transactions are definitely in POLY, as vehemently assured by the Polymath team? https://ift.tt/2Nu5Yed also notice, hilariously, that 7pass another STO isn't accepting POLY, but are accepting Bitcoin Cash and Ripple.Polymath had the first mover advantage, a HUGE facebook marketing campaign and the opportunity to ignite the next alt-season by sticking to their guns, their original promise and requiring their POLY token be the exclusive/required token of their platform.Unfortunately, like so many new businesses, they succumbed to "reasonableness." They hyped up their platform and their POLY token by comparing it to ETH at the height of the ICO and FOMO bubble, and now are acting like "we always were planning on POLY to be a completely superfluous token" which is what a lot of us would say if we were caught in the middle of borderline if not outright fraudulent behavior.So maybe nothing happens, and investors like me helped them pay for their platform that they get to profit off of for free. Ok fine, whatever. We're not the first or last to get burned by a token.BUT, I want to ask TO ANY PROSPECTIVE STO ISSUERS OR POLYMATH PARTNERS - if they so easily and obviously changed the rules on those who first supported the project, how can they possibly convince you to issue on their platform? They'll just change the rules on you too if it means getting a bigger STO partner and they'll tell you it's your fault you never understood them.If anyone else was duped by this project and subsequently banned from their subreddit for noticing it, feel free to comment here

ETN has launched it's Instant Payment feature!

Over the years I have been following many alt coins some have done well and some have just died. I have recently been following a Monero clone called ETN which has had a bumpy ride to date. Today I started putting money back in the market

Now that I’m mostly finished getting robbed by medical school application fees, I’m gonna start putting a little into crypto every paycheck. I’m just sharing this because I’m excited tbh but also have been gone for a long time. What’s the market like nowadays? Are we feeling btc going to sub 5k or staying flat?Either way, I think it’s smart to start coming back in every week or so. Bitcoin is NOT 300x cheaper than tradiitonal remittance.

When you account for the necessary fees of buying and selling into fiat, BTC is by no means cheaper than wire transfer or even Western Union.I can send $5k internationally via WU for $35.00. Bitcoins transaction fee may be cheaper (not guaranteed), but then you need to find a fiat gateway because no one accepts btc for groceries in any location that you might need to send money via WU.So what does btc (and crypto) do better? -taking large sums of money with you if you're relocating -sending money without the knowledge of the Patriot Act -losing your savings (if you bought at height of bull market) -having your savings multiply ten fold (if you bought at the bottom of a bear market) -not much else.

Cryptocurrencies rebound as ripple token spikes 17% on potential launch of xRapid platform in the next month

According to a report by Coindesk, decentralized exchange, Kyber Network, is releasing an on-chain liquidity smart contract that will enable businesses to accept payments in any form of ethereum ERC-20 tokens. CEO and co-founder, Li Luu, said in an interview with Coindesk that the, “main goal is to make tokens usable anywhere.” According to Finance Feeds, the U.K. government is facing questions over whether or not it is actively monitoring the impact of the global crypto bear market on the domestic blockchain industry. Lord Taylor of Warwick reportedly asked the UK Government if they have been monitoring whether or not declining cryptocurrency values have had an impact on the UK blockchain industry, to which the government replied that they had not made a formal assessment of any specific implications. A new botnet was discovered by security researchers that, as opposed to posing a threat, is seeking to destroy crypto-mining malware. The botnet was discovered by a team at Qihoo 360Netlab where they deduced that the botnet is seeking out a malware known as com.ufo.miner. Notable cryptocurrency hedge fund, Multicoin Capital, said in a report that Litecoin (LTC) is a, “significantly overvalued relic.” In the report, Multicoin detailed that LTC faces a variety of negative catalysts with no bull case. The report goes on to mention that LTC’s bull run in 2017 stemmed largely from retail investors and immaturity in the cryptocurrency market. Multicoin Capital is short on Litecoin. Tether, the world’s eighth largest cryptocurency and second most traded coin, faced serious technical problems as transactions froze for about eight hours Tuesday. The USD-pegged stablecoin faced issues after the engine that feeds the coin’s data from its underlying Omni protocol stopped working. The stablecoin dipped about 2% immediately following trading coming back online, a significant amount for a stablecoin. The New York Office of the Attorney General released a report indicating cryptocurrency trading platforms are vulnerable to market manipulation while referring several exchanges to another agency for possible violations of state laws. The New York Attorney General’s (NYAG) initial inquiry began in April, seeking voluntary cooperation from 13 of the world’s largest cypto trading sites, including Coinbase, Karaken, and Binance. Some of these exchanges would go on to say, “it was impossible” to prevent market manipulation while the NYAG’s report pointed out that exchanges like Gemini are seeking to monitor exchanges more effectively. Theta, a leading video delivery blockchain network advised by the co-founder of YouTube, announced that media companies MBN and CJ Hello have joined its Media Advisory Council as strategic partners. Theta’s token was recently listed on crypto exchange, Bithumb, at the end of August. A US private equity firm, Brookstone Partners, is launching Soluna, a crypto mining entity that is working to build a massive 36-megawatt mining farm in Morocco. The mining farm intends to leverage local laws, known as a power purchasing agreement, by selling 20% of its electricity back to the Moroccan government while gaining a foothold in the region. The mining farm is expected to be finished by January of next year.
