Why do we criticize central banks when they print money out of thin air while the #3 cryptocurrency by market cap is essentially doing the same thing?

Is it hypocritical, naive, tribalism, plain ignorance, acceptance or reality or am I missing something about the Tether and this market overal?This has bothered me for a while now. I know there are much more alternatives lately which is great and all but tether is still by far the giant out there.
