Topps going full-on Blockchain, bringing NFTs to the masses

After releasing first trading cards featuring cryptocurrencies back in 2018, Topps is now starting to release their first digital collectibles as NFTs.Unlike Paninis joke of Blockchain that right now is nothing more than a closed system running on centralized servers, Topps partnered up with WAX and is launching on a distributed Ledger. Cards will be up for purchase via CC through a fiat gateway and can then be traded at will on secondary marketplaces. To understand why this is huge I would recommend checking out the portfolio of Topps Digital. With Topps Digital, Topps has a nice selection of mobile Apps based on pretty strong IP (Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, WWE, MLB, NHL, ...) with millions of users. Their first release in the coming weeks will feature Garbage Pail Kids with other brands to follow after a successful launch of GPK.This means over time, millions of no-coiners will be transitioned to the WAX Blockchain as their first entry point to crypto. To make this transition as smooth as possible Topps is relying on the WAX Cloud Wallet that allows developers to implement blockchain technology without relying on their users to understand anything about crypto, shifting Blockchain almost completely into the back-end by making external wallet software and key management optional. Over time the WCW will support a variety of other assets and cryptocurrencies through inter-blockchain-communication opening up an entirely new world for those people. The ease of use, the strong underlying IP and the already existing reach and userbase of Topps make this one of the biggest steps toward mass adoption we have seen in the recent past.
