Lately, it feels like every time I open up this sub it's the same thing - posts about adoption or some sort of hype. Most posts are from garbage blogs put up overnight, a lot of which is spam in different subs. Others are commented by fake accounts, upvoted by bots and whatnot. It feels as though the general public lost interest in crypto but the companies trying to make moneys are still at it, pumping stuff day in day out - it feels just as scammy and sleazy as it has at the top of the bubble.Hardly anyone talks about the real issues facing crypto or cares to address the challenges to adoption - some of which being: no real use cases aside from blockchain stamping, shitty marketing with odd names, impossible UX, or in some cases good UX with no real app purpose. I get that on the surface each of the statements I make seem downright stupid and wrong, but if you take a close look, they're not all that wrong to question things. In many cases it feels like people are trying to find "solutions" to non-existent problems, or problems that have already been solved. I'm sure a bunch of people will comment on this mentioning problem X and use case Y, but a deeper discussion regarding any will show why they are simply not needed. The bigger question is, does anyone even care about the distributed nature of crypto? It feels like the core purpose of crypto has been lost by the wayside with companies twisting and turning the definition, morphing it into "decentralization" and trying to convince theirs is decentralized. I mean, it takes a few simple qualifiers to see that hardly any crypto is distributed. For it to be distributed it would have to be pretty low in value and high in propagation - almost no crypto can qualify for this asides from maybe Bitcoin (I even hesitate to say this because as a % of whole population, the number of people holding bitcoin is insignificant). The fact that financial institutions are getting into, to me at least, is a sign of trouble, not adoption or any bright future. Money interests squander crypto potential, yet I see the supposed hundreds/thousands of fools gleefully welcoming it. I guess the hope is, get as many people to buy into it so the value goes up and you profit. Great! One doesn't need to look far to see that most people are not interested in crypto development. Open up Youtube and find Ethereum Foundation's channel and see how few people watch the meetings between core devs and the roadmap for various features. The fact that the core devs keep working on things is awesome, props to them, but it's kind of sad to see very few people care. If you were to say the videos are too technical in nature, I dunno.. I'm not a developer and there's plenty to pick up there.I'm confident blockchain has a future as many corporate interests are now exploring the field, but to what extent will any of that be public? Probably zero, and if some, it'll be hoarded by the get rich quick types.
