COSS Exchange

This was originally a response to someone asking for exchange recommendations and I thought hey why not share it here... Purely informative, no referral links:You should check out Coss.io... They had a rough start last year, but with the release of COSS 1.2 this past December, which included a brand new trading engine and user interface, they are beginning to prove all the doubters wrong. COSS 1.2 has received great reviews from the community and is only the first feature release on their path to COSS 2.0. It's also proof of their tremendous efforts throughout this bear market, when so many projects flat out bailed on their promises.Key Features:COSS Token holders are allocated with 50% of all trading fees collected on a weekly basis through the Fee Split Allocation (FSA)CFT token holders get 25% trading fee discountsOne of only a handful of exchanges working tirelessly to meet regulatory requirements (based in Singapore).Corporate membership in ACCESS (the Singapore Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Industry Association)One of only 7 exchanges with a CCXT certification.Great customer supportVery communicative, open, transparent, and engaged with the community.Don't just take my word for it, see for yourself: http://bit.ly/2RvEEcp certainly hope you like what you learn & experience with COSS and decide to join our community, but if you still prefer to look elsewhere, Coinbase is most people's first venture into crypto & Binance is most people's top choice for Alts.Welcome to the Crypto Revolution. Happy trading.

Here is an article quoting the original medium post: http://bit.ly/2B8tnJJ clearly says 1:1 ratio more than once. The article now says 1:0.11 ratio for the first one, and "not sure" what the ratio will be in the future.edited post: http://bit.ly/2TjX6GO users bought TRX in anticipation of this airdrop, but I'm still seeing comments on r/tronix even as of today that think the ratio will be 1:1Blatant duping of investors.

STOs - I gather few useful resources that simplify this new trend

One of the main reasons I made this list is because I heard about STOs a few times already but I didn't have a clue what it is. So, I'm not saying you should invest in STOs, but if the market involved into new directions (and it seems in the last few weeks it does) it's important to know what it is.1-What is even STO?2- All you need to know about STO3-What is Regulation and why STO needs it4-ICO vs STO who wins?5-Security tokens in the US: regulations and exemptions under the SEC laws6-The future of STO's7-The Pros and Cons of Security Token OfferingsTD;LR Many of the ICOs were actually STOs and even now some ICOs issues token that fit in the security category thus making them un-regulated STO, so this field still Relatively breached, not every STO is regulated and safe, a lot of them are just STOs in ICO disguise. In addition, STO stands for Star Trek Online ground and space building

Can someone help me better understand bitcoin (and all alt coins) vs the blockchain?

Hello all, I'm trying to educate myself over bitcoin protocol and the blockchain in general. I understand the blockchain from a basic understanding and that bitcoin is produced using an algorithm on the blockchain. So are all coins on 1 blockchain just deployed in different spots? Like bitcoin has a blockchain deployed somewhere, ethereum has that same blockchain (like a copy of bitcoins just set up for ethereum) deployed somewhere else, etc etc? That blockchain is the same "backbone" everywhere but the coins produced are different? Where does scalability come in, is that built into the block chain or the coins produced? I understand PoW and PoS at a basic level as well but are those 2 different types of blockchains? Why can XRP do 1500 TPS and bitcoin cant? If there are any videos you recommend watching or articles/forums to read I'd love a link, I want to educate myself on blockchain and bitcoin protocol as best I can. Thanks!

lol, I'm essentially making $10,000 by filing my crypto taxes.

Before i dive into this...I need to rant for a second...I first learned about the tax implications that come with cryptocurrencies in the US earlier this fall (about September time frame). At the time, I was down around $32,000 total from when I first got involved in crypto about a year prior (yes I did buy the hype and I'm paying for it now).I was blown away after I learned that because the stuff is treated as property for tax purposes, I somehow needed to report EVERY SINGLE trade that I have ever made to the government. I also needed to know the US dollar value of the cryptocurrencies that i was trading at the time of each individual trade to properly report everything. For someone like me who has done A LOT of trading, this is literally IMPOSSIBLE. Seriously there has to be a better way to tax this stuff cmon... (later on I found out that their are now sites that automate this process like cryptotrader.tax and cryptotaxhub)Okay initial rant over....So as I started to dive into it more (and after discussing things over with my Uncle who is an accountant) I found out that because it's classified as property, I can actually write off my losses in crypto on my taxes if I can sort through the giant mess. My enormous losses can then actually be used to offset other income and GAINS that I have made in other areas of my life. This whole process got me thinking...I realized that if I sold off a property that I bought about 3 years ago that has accrued in value quite a bit (it's a piece of land in Minnesota), I could use my losses from crypto to offset my huge gains from selling the property. So, I did exactly that and sold the lot at the end of November. This is where it gets awesome.I made about $50,000 in gain from the sale of the land. I would typically owe a tax on that entire 50k gain; however, because i offset those gains with my crypto losses (32K of loss) I only have to pay taxes on 18K of gain from the land sale!I essentially saved $10,000 on my tax bill by filing my crypto losses. Take that government!!It's the one bright spot in an otherwise terrible year for crypto... but it's pretty awesome because your crypto losses can potentially save you a good amount of money on taxes.

What will ATH investors really do when the bulls show up?

Like many others here I'm down over 90%... I only invested 1k and didn't buy any dips so even if my portfolio were to recover I wouldn't take any of it out. The other day I read someone on this sub who hypothesized that people who just want their principle back will fuck with the market for years to come by pulling out right when they break even... I've been thinking about that for days, and it's like.... Will they? I feel like people who invested more than they could afford to lose would actually be more likely to put MORE in, than take out their principle in a bull market when they're waking up to giant green dildos every morning.

Tribalism in Cryptocurrency and The Button

Who here remembers ‘The Button’?It was a social experiment initiated by Reddit in 2015 as an Aprils Fools with seemingly no purpose what so ever. The rules and setup were pretty simple. The button would count down from 60 seconds and would only reset itself if pressed by someone before the timer hit 0. Pressing the button would assign a flair/color to the user and disallow them to press it again. The assignment of color followed this structureWhat happened after the button was released, nobody could really anticipate. Factions were built around the different colors, which all defended the legitimacy of their chosen color. Soon a cult-like phenomenon arose and factions were trying to infiltrate each other to push their own agenda. Even not participating and pressing the button became a faction, with ‘non-pressers’ heralding not pressing the button and giving in to temptation. The experiment ran more than two months and included more than 1 million participants, until finally someone did not press the button and the timer reached 0. This concluded the experiment and while most were anticipating some sort of closure to the experiment, it never happened. The meaning of the experiment was whatever the users themselves gave it and it took off with flying colors. A community was built around simply pressing a button for months end with no purpose and even within said community, there were factions competing to give the experiment meaning. So, why is all of this relevant?Well, I think that ‘The Button’ is a perfect example to draw parallels from when it comes to tribalism in modern time. Earlier studies have shown that it doesn’t take more than a color, a name or an artifact to divide people into separate groups. This experiment proved just that and more so that factions will attack other factions to legitimize their own agenda. Does this ring a bell? Many cryptocurrency projects are legitimizing their existence or purpose by throwing mud at other projects. How is the cryptocurrency community at large expected to grow and be taken serious with so many internal factions that are preoccupied with attacking each other rather than help adoption? I understand that everyone suffers from confirmation bias and that seeking congruency is sometimes a driving force behind decision making. With the size of the current cryptocurrency market, there is plenty of room for everyone to grow and thrive and there is really no need for internal fighting. There should be no competitors in this industry, only potential partners.

Biggest Elephant In The Room With Cryptocurrencies That Nobody Wants To Talk About

From day to day all the optimists here seem to completely ignore the elephant in the room. They keep talking about 'increased' adoption, about how vechain or IOTA or Stellar, whatever keeps gaining partnerships after partnerships. But, they seem to forget the basic principles of economy. Let's talk about it right here right nowSo, cryptocurrency is called 'currency' for a reason. because it provides economic value. For a currency to rise in value (outside speculative perspective) it needs to have a real demand. But the problem with crypto optimists is that they like to mix demand for blockchain or DLT (distributed ledger technology) WITH demand for cryptocurrency. Unfortunately, the two are not the same although I admit they can be indirectly connectedTake a look at all IOTA partnerships with big corporations. None of them require IOTA token. all these corporations are not required to hodl or spend IOTA token in order to use the tangle. so, what drives the demand for IOTA token? nothing. just speculation. you just speculate that one day people/machines will utilize the token inside the tangle. there's no real demand here. compare it with USD where majority of people in the United States use USD to buy homes, to pay debts, to pay employees salaries, etc. Those things are real use cases. Again, use cases for the Tangle are not the same with use cases for IOTA tokenThe same can be said about any cryptocurrency out there. "Oh, I heard these banks are using ethereum blockchain to settle $xx billion" but them using ethereum blockchain does not mean they had to buy large amount of ETH. you only need 0.001 ETH to make 1 single erc20 transaction. that's actually a very bad business model for ethereum foundation as they need to constantly dump ETH on the market to fund development while their own ETH's use case is just to pay for smart contract gas fees.Crypto fanatics need to go back to drawing board and ask themselves "what is exactly the use case of this cryptocurrency?" and stop mixing blockchain and cryptocurrency because they are not one and the same. corporations utilizing blockchain A or blockchain B does not mean they will drive the demand for the native token associated with those blockchains.

Analysis: Long Term Bitcoin Trends

I just finished writing my most recent letter to investors and thought I would share it with Reddit as well."Welcome to another edition of the Boss Crypto “Letter To Investors” series. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule for us.The last week has been relatively uneventful, as I expect the next part of the cycle to be so I took some time to write an analysis of longer-term Bitcoin trends. The MarketsI believe that it is important to talk a little bit about where we are right now. My opinion is that we are in the depression stage of the cycle. A lot of altcoins are down over 90% and that is a big number.Do you know how far Amazon stock dropped in the tech bubble from January 2000 — September 2001 (20 months later)? It dropped 95% — Sound familiar?During this time nobody wanted to touch it, the market could only think of negative reasons why the price would go down forever. Investors were pessimistic, and nobody had the courage to act. Some companies died, forever, but what came next was the re-birth of something 100x bigger. It went from a tech bubble to the tech revolution. And you wouldn’t be here if, at some stage, you didn’t believe in the blockchain revolution. Now, we don’t know now what companies will be the next blockchain Amazons, but we are looking for them every day. And we will find them. While we move through this stage of the cycle, capital will be tight, and we need to be even more prudent with our investments. Keeping portions in cash, taking profits earlier than usual or making long term investments that you intend to hold for long periods of time. And even with these long term investments, you should have exit rules, both profit — and loss.Price cycles around a trend. This is something we all know.Using trends as forecasts for the future price of an asset are simply extrapolations of the past into the future and there is no guarantee that the previous trend will repeat exactly. I believe they offer a good amount of insight into the flow of price, yet would not trust it, for example, to predict the exact dollar value of Bitcoin in 2021.The below is a simple breakdown of the past trends as they were before the bulls took over and blew the price to crazy highs. This phenomenon is in no way just related to cryptocurrency trading and investing. It happens in every market. Why? Because humans are involved in every market.https://i.redd.it/e2bbthvxdad21.pngFirstlyYou can see the % retrace marked in blue. And you can see the horizontal green box, which was the depression stage at the end of the 2015 bear market, duplicated to today's market.SecondlyYou can see there are two main lines that I am looking at.The highest of the two was the 2012–2013 bullish accumulation period before the major breakout at the start of 2013 and the second is the bullish accumulation period from the end of 2015 to the start of 2017 before the major breakout. As you can see, the second accumulation trend was at a slower incline than the first, and I believe that was caused by a much larger collection of money in the pool. From this data, I would then make the assumption that the next bullish accumulation trend, after the depression period, will also be slower than the 2015–2017 trend, yet might catch up at the peak of the breakout.ThirdlyYou can see similarities in volume. I wanted to talk about this because the volume charts look similar across most exchanges that were trading Bitcoin during the last bear market. The amount of volume in both the bull market and bear markets of 2017 and 2018 was lower than the volume of the 2014–2015 markets. However, the shape is the same:A build-up of EuphoriaMass PanicUncertaintyMore PanicUnknown in 2019, and in 2015 we saw more uncertainty, or as I am referring to it: Depression.ConclusionThere is no way that we can know for certain what is to come, and it is unlikely to repeat exactly however this picture does show us a clear picture on the past market performance in all times, across all emotions. It is a complete picture. The depression cycle is always (not just in cryptocurrency) the most important to be vigilant to new investments. While a lot of old projects will succeed, a lot that came through in the ICO boom are dying, new ones will be there to take their place. To your 2019,Boss Cole, CEO — BossCrypto"

Are we all crazy? Are we making a big mistake? I don't think so but the markets are telling me otherwise. Why?

Everything that I read about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies is (mostly) positive. The tech is stronger and better than ever, huge ecosystems are getting build, communities are coming together, more and more people understand the tech and its advantages, actual securities are getting onto the blockchain, fiat currencies and centralized transactions companies like paypal are showing their limits, ... Sure, some altcoins will disappear and there were a lot of scams. But a lot of companies that had ICO have been working hard and their product/services are slowly coming to light and will boost the ecosystem even more.I could go on all day. Everywhere I look, I see hope, positivism, optimism, excitement, dare I say love?I'm so sure cryptos are going nowhere that I've used all what was left after the current terrible bear market to develop crypto-themed playing cards. So let me tell you, I'm in, deep. But the markets... they keep tanking, and tanking, and tanking. Everyone keeps predicting bottom, but honestly, for all we know Bitcoin may go down to $1000. Nobody can predict anything in that matter. I know that price isn't everything, that high price isn't a goal in itself, but it's a "sign". A sign that people are buying the tech, buying the ideas, buying the philosophy.I guess I'm sort of scared that I may, that we all, might be crazy. Have I been blinded by something? Am I not thinking clearly anymore? Are we the crypto generation that's going to be left behind?

Profiting from Information Arbitrage in the Financial Markets

This looks like a great way to make money with traditional stocks but something like this can apply to crypto too "On January 3rd 2019, Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMY) acquired Celegene (CELG) for $74 billion. CELG rose from 66.64 to 87.86 per share, giving it a 31.8% gain overnight. Although most professionals missed out on those gains, there were other hidden opportunities to be had if you knew where and how to find them.A group of equities that have relatively unknown and indirect relationships to CELG also rose in value but not immediately. The delay in their rise was sufficient enough that any funds, traders or investors that took positions in those equities related to CELG, stood to benefit. This is an example of information arbitrage in the financial markets. It happens from time to time and when it does, most people miss the opportunity.Capturing information arbitrage opportunities can be done using advanced techniques in the area of Natural Language Processing and Understanding (NLP/NLU). This also includes the processing correlation matrix datasets based on data such as public company profiles, encyclopedias, peer-reviewed scientific literature, news and patents located here.Using a NLP/NLU correlation matrix dataset of US publicly traded equities, we generated a cluster (or basket) of companies that have relationships to CELG based on symbiotic, parasitic and sympathetic latent entanglement. What we found, with the top five scoring equities, were unique opportunities to profit ahead of the market. We've produced the following slides with charts to describe where gains should have been locked in..."http://bit.ly/2SenuEA

So I make music and thanks to crypto in the last year I have started to generate more income from my own music then would have been possible without crypto. Thanks to platforms like bitbacker, yours.org and honest.cash and many other. I still have to do a lot of platform hopping but I got good hopes

So I started with posting my music to yours.org back when they were still running on Bitcoin Cash. This brought me in touch with people in crypto willing to pay for musing with their crypto.I did some small jobs on /r/BCHBazaar/I got people to email me to make music for them. I have started busking with a Bitcoin QR code. I have posted crypto addresses on my soundcloud page and youtube.Long story short, in the last 12 months I have generated about a 1000 USD with my own music. This would not have been possible without crypto. Most of that was in BCH, with BTC second and DOGE last. I have been selling most of it to help me pay with bills. Generating enough income from your own music is NOT easy but crypto is definitely helping. Also being able to post 30 second previews and then ask 25 cents in crypto for the whole song, behind a paywall is incredible useful.Imagine if artist would get 25 cents per play on spotify! Well, obviously that would be to expensive for people, to pay 25 cents every time they listen to a song. But I try to mix in free tracks with tracks I ask a small amount of money for.It works! Maybe a 1000 dollars in 12 months is not a lot. But it's something for me. And getting paid for what you do is the best kind of motivation. I am positive that crypto is going to play a big role in eventually becoming self sufficient, being able to just live and make my music and also be able to pay off all my bills. And as soon as I generate enough to have some crypto left at the end of the month I could start hodling a bit.My latest work was just posted on honest.cash and yours.orgIt's my trance track "Antebellum". Honest.cash does not have paywall functionality yet but yours.org does. Which is really nice. Question to the community. Are there any websites that run on Ethereum, dash or dogecoin that offer the same functionality as yours.org?Lure people into wanting to hear the entire thing by posting a 30 second preview and hope that 25 cents is a small enough price that they are willing to pay for it.If I can create a song per week and have a 1000 people worldwide every week willing to pay 25 cents for a listen. (does not have to be the same people every week). Well my income would be 250 dollars per week. That's more than enough for me to live from. With crypto I don't need a label, I don't need a bank or a paypall account. And all of that 25 cents is mine. No overhead cost. I am still paying soundcloud for hosting, but maybe eventually that can be done using the interplanetary file system which is kind of like bittorrent. As long as enough people care about my stuff there would be hosting for it, and my computer can always host it as well so there is always at least one pear. That way people would pay directly to a crypto wallet on my computer AND directly download it FROM my computer. Of course it's going to take a while before the performance is high enough that IFPS works better then using a soundcloud embed where people just play and it always plays.

Can someone please explain why we should have a gigashitcoin like Bitcoin SV in the top 10 with a marketcap of $1.3 Billion?

The shitties shitcoin of the all, and somehow it has the 10th largest market cap with a whopping 1.3 billion. I think that's about the same marketcap Ethereum had 2 years ago, think about that! There are things like this that makes me believe we still have a far way to fall before the bubble is completely over...Who is propping up the market cap of Bitcoin SV, what is the point of it?

I don’t even remember it happening, I just woke up to an email “thanking me for my purchase”I’m the only one who has access to my phone and coinbase app as both require my finger prints, unless someone else did it while I was maybe knocked out?I don’t have the slightest memory of doing this.I’m out in Vegas right now, with literally no money left to my name, I only have my credit card until I reach back home.I’m ultimately fucked.I can’t imagine what will happen if bitcoin dumps...Anyone got any ideas of what I can do to expedite this BS coinbase hold process?! There quick to take the money out my account but slow to let me even use my damn money

Dear companies who had raised ICO funds,

Dear ICO Startups,For a while now, we've been seeing posts from ICO companies trying to make relatable posts and featuring their employees (e.g., http://bit.ly/2UirVMd) and we have a suggestion that is likely speaking on behalf of the entire crypto public community. No matter how much you are actually working, and although generally it's nice to see startup camaraderie between employees, bonding, having fun, etc... these communications are terrible PR for you during a bear market in which the public, many of who lost money, are less likely to well-receive such depictions. You are not a large organization nor a private startup... you raised public money and your public communications should consist of information of project developments for your core business, especially in the current market environment. We are tired of seeing your latest escapades attending having beers/dinners together, bonding expeditions, and even attending insignificant crypto events. In other words,:Show us you are building and nothing else, until you have something.Sincerely,Everyone

Popular Dutch comedian publicly declares victory on ticket scalpers, by using Ethereum based GET Protocol

Yesterday, Jochem Myjer, Holland’s leading comedian took to his social channels (>2 Million followers) to declare that since working with GUTS Tickets (the initial ticketing company to make use of GET Protocol (GET)), none of his tickets have been resold for profits by scalpers. Here’s the tweet: https://twitter.com/jochemmyjer/status/1088481415149379584Rough translation: 'Since I've sold my tickets through GUTS Tickets, not a single one of my tickets is being resold for a profit by touts. That makes me extremely happy! It took some doing to get it done, but we've succeeded. Fuck the frauds!'Jochem is currently in the midst of a 36-show tour in the prestigious Royal Theater Carré in Amsterdam. For this tour he is exclusively using GUTS Tickets, to ensure his fans are protected from frauds en ticket scalpers.GUTS Tickets sells their tickets through the Ethereum based GET Protocol, which provides digitally self-aware ‘smart tickets’. The ownership- and state changes of these tickets are registered on the Ethereum blockchain. This protocol is fueled by the GET token. In short, every ticket sold requires GET to be bought back from the open market by the Event Organizer.Summarized this means: The more tickets sold using the protocol, the higher the demand for the GET token on the open market.Sources:Explainer video of GET Protocol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjXSeElvbssGET Protocol website:https://get-protocol.io

All the shitpost quotes are getting old AF. People don't come to this sub for daily inspirational quotes from random people on Twitter or dudes who were actually talking about the stock market back in the day. They come here for news about the crypto world. You're not gonna single-handedly start another bull run with some dumb quote about how great a bear market is, how people need to be buying right now, or how some dude 100 years ago said banks are bad.Shit is beginning to have a cultist, echo chamber vibe. Just stop. If you need daily inspiration to make yourself feel better about all the digital money you lost this past year, download an app or something. Stop spamming the sub with this shit and let's stick to actual news and updates.

Lost 10,000$ due to Poloniex Server Outage

I've been a regular margin trader on Poloniex for about 3 years (First two years were good with no issues) , I used Poloniex because it offers margin trading for stellar. Just recently Poloniex Server outage caused a trading disruption and the market went into post only mode for trading orders. The moment it resumed XRP/BTC (which i have an open long position in) plummeted to 7500 sats due to orderbook error causing my margin account to get partially liquidated. My margins are at loss but i had no intention of closing my positions at any point, my margin was safe if it wasn't for the XRP/BTC price drop. I've lost a total of 104,123 XLM roughly 10,000 $ (2.91 BTC) in value. After submitting a ticket and waiting for 5 days i've been reimbursed .02 BTC while having deducted my outstanding loans from the original amount. That's what having a margin position means to take a loan , and now due to Poloniex's service disruption .. i didn't get a choice in when to payback my loans (my account has never been in negative as i've always paid back entirety of my margins held) , right now my margin positions are all in negative (with sufficient time i've always made a profit) and any forced repayment causes me to incur these losses. That's what the margin interest is for ! All i want is my XLM to be returned back to my margin account along with adding back the outstanding loans that were deducted by the forced liquidation. I just want my account back to the way it was before the server outage, i'm not asking for anything else. Here's their reply -Poloniex support-On January 17th, 2019, Poloniex experienced an unplanned outage from approximately 21:15 UTC to 22:45 UTC. A misconfiguration in one of our third-party provider's software systems caused a network issue, which has since been resolved. We have worked with our partner to ensure that it won't happen again. After a thorough investigation of your account, we identified that one of your positions appears to have been impacted. During the outage, three markets (XRP, STR, ETH) experienced large price movements that resulted in liquidating some margin positions. To account for this, we calculated a reimbursement of 0.02748891 BTC, that has already been credited to your account, and is based on the best execution price of the first customer liquidated.  This ensures that even if your position was sold later, you have been compensated based on the best execution price. Additionally, please note that your reimbursement amount is based on repaying your outstanding loans first, with the remaining balance distributed to you in BTC from the liquidation sales. I got their reply after 5 days (7 hours ago) , i replied 2 hours ago.Again, we do apologize for this inconvenience. We take these outages seriously, and we know that disruptions in trading are frustrating for our users. The stability and security of the exchange is our top priority. As we mentioned in December, we are upgrading to more scalable and resilient data centers. We will complete that upgrade in the coming weeks, and will continue to invest in improving the reliability and uptime of the exchange. My reply -This is unacceptable ! i've lost XLM worth 2.91 BTC due to the liquidation and you have reimbursed me .02748 BTC ?? Is this a joke ? I'll pay my margin loans on my own terms. Not only are my margin positions affected but i've lost 1/4th the value of my account due to this! I have lost all confidence in your exchange as you seem to lack the basic decency of even returning the amount which was lost ! I'm not even asking for something i didn't own to begin with. Please look into this because this is deeply distressing to me. The amount reimbursed is a joke and i don't accept this as issue resolved on any basis."Additionally, please note that your reimbursement amount is based on repaying your outstanding loans first, with the remaining balance distributed to you in BTC from the liquidation sales." I don't want to repay the loans first i'm willing to pay whatever interest the market offers to hold the loan, please put the amount you deducted on the loans straight back into my margin account where they were taken out from.Kindly add the XLM back in my margin account , while also adding back the outstanding loan to my net margin value. I'll pay back the loan myself on my terms according to my trading strategy.P.S - I know how risky margin trading is and the consequences of poorly managed margin positions. But that's not the point here , the account liquidation didn't happen due to market conditions. I accept the risks when they pertain to anything caused by market fluctuation. This event was not due to market conditions , it was due to Poloniex exchange service disruption. The price drop of XRP/BTC only happened on poloniex itself and not in any other exchange.

[ADOPTION] One more state in the US is striving towards crypto adoption at the state level.

Lawmakers in the US state of New Hampshire are currently considering a bill to legalize payment of fees and taxes with BTC.NH HB470 bill is now making its way through local government, with a public hearing that took place yesterday. “This bill requires the State Treasurer [...] to develop an implementation plan for the state to accept cryptocurrencies as payment for taxes and fees beginning July 1, 2020,” it reads.Republicans Dennis Acton and Michael Yakubovich are the main drivers of this event. A subcommittee is due to examine it on Jan. 29, with a decision deadline set for March, 14.It's really inspiring that crypto is being adopted on such a high level. If everything will go well NH joins Wyoming in so called crypto-adoption club and let's hope more US states will consider crypto payments as an option and finally make it more acceptable at the federal level. But the news like these yet didn't interrupt BTC's price which is almost the same today (down by 0.5% actually according to coin360) as it was yesterday when public hearings took place. Let's see how it'll go after the 14th of March.Edited: added main source: http://bit.ly/2R8wRkQ

We got a little bored during the bear market and created the world's first self-destructing currency

Myself and three friends got a little bored during the bear market and decided to create the world's first self-destructing currency called BOMB.    The rules are simple1) There were originally 1,000,000 Bomb created.\ 2) Each time a Bomb is transferred, 1% of the transaction is destroyed.\ 3) There will never be newly minted Bomb.\First and foremost, we acknowledge and anticipate an incoming amount of skepticism and negativity towards this project. I'll be the first to admit, the concept still seems a little whimsical when we explain it to people. At the same time, the more research we did into economic incentives and history of the financial system, the more curious we became:    Outside of transactional currency, can a hyperdeflationary asset survive?\ When given away, would people actually want to keep or store them?\ With crypto changing the financial landscape, is there a place for this alternative asset class?\ At the current rate of hyperdeflation, how long will it take for all Bomb to be destroyed?      While there is no way of knowing the answers to those questions, we wanted to create a case study to find out. For that reason, Bomb is nothing more than a social experiment of human psychology and economic exploration.        There are quite a few projects that inspired the tokenomics behind the project (MKR especially), and many projects already using the burn method in their system. That said, the intent of BOMB is not to be used as a transactional currency or utility token, but rather a hyperdeflationary and decentralized store of value.        On the first day of putting the website up, we had over 200+ people claim the tokens. As of today (one week since launch), there have been over 225,750 claimed tokens, and over 11,000 tokens burned during the distribution process. On average, every five minutes a new person claims their Bomb. While this doesn't add true validity to the project by any means, it did show us other people are as intrigued as us.    The tokens have already been minted and 125,000 have already been released into the wild for destruction. We aren't doing an ICO, and everything will be completely self-funded out of our own curiosity and development. Trash them. Sell them. Save them. We don't care. We just want to see where this case study goes.      If you would like to participate in this experiment with us, we encourage you to grill us with questions below. We understand the the amount of distrust in the industry and want to be 100% transparent with everything we do.

"Big Bang" attack could leverage Monero's dynamic blocksize to bloat the blockchain to 30TB in only 36 hours

http://bit.ly/2Wa7sep excerpts:Abstract:The current bound on expansion of the Monero block(/chain) is that each block cannot be larger than the median size of the previous 100 blocks. Given the 2-minute block time, this means that the protocol has a few-hour memory, which performs well for most use cases and conditions. However, it is prudent to consider edge cases as well, and the current absence of medium or long-term memory comes with a significant risk. Under the current protocol, sustained high transaction volume (due to rapid adoption or a well-funded spammer) induces a rapid exponential increase in resource requirements (disk space, bandwidth, etc) that would exceed the capacities of the extant Monero infrastructure on the scale of hoursThis notebook quantifies the scale of damage in the worst-case-scenarios that could arise from overwhelming adpotion or a deliberate spam attack. The current system (short-term memory only) is compared to two proposed mitigation strategies: a two point long/short-term memory, and an additive limit. Results: Under the current system, the block size doubles every 51 blocks (i.e. doubling 14 times each day) indefinitely. The blockchain size doubles in less than a day and grows catastrophically large shortly thereafter.Response from Sarang Noether of Monero Research Labs (MRL):This kind of bloat structure has been known for quite some time, and although it is costly to execute, there are at least two proposals being considered for inclusion in the next release. It's been discussed at length in public research meetings.Executing a successful network upgrade is a non-trivial task. It's being addressed as expeditiously as can be reasonably done.Monero subreddit discussion:http://bit.ly/2R7w6Ze

Awhile back, I happily announced on this sub-Reddit that my gun shop proudly accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin in exchange for all of our guns and related merchandise... now we accept Monero and Basic Attention Tokens too!

I don't know if any of you remember me, but I own a little gun shop and conduct most of my business online. We specialize in custom weaponry, and could get most any gun related item on the legal market for our potential customers in trade for the cryptocurrencies mentioned in the title. With that being said, please let me clarify, that although cryptocurrencies are great for anonymous transactions, in order to purchase a firearm from us, we would still need to conduct a background check for in-person pick-ups, and if you purchase from us out of state or through the mail, you will need to provide us with a Federal Firearms License from your local dealer, so that we may transfer it over to you legally and properly.I don't want anyone getting the wrong idea about how we operate, but I thought being one of the only gun shops in the world to accept cryptocurrency was very exciting, and I am happy to be a very small part of this new money revolution.I know it's tough trying to find vendors that sell actual goods in exchange for cryptocurrency, and did not want to be a hypocrite in the shadows by not accepting it for my own business, so here we are, accepting cryptocurrency since September of 2017.Since that time, we've only had one purchase made via a cryptocurrency transaction, and it was with Bitcoin. The customer was very awesome, and actually gave us a pretty significant tip as well for accepting cryptocurrency. The item purchased was our flagship model custom firearm, which is our Colt 1911 Series 70 pistol in mirror bright nickel and 24 karat gold. Before I go, if you're interested in checking out our blog post about our old and new cryptocurrency acceptance announcement, feel free to tap or click here to do so.Now that my shameless plug is out of the way, I would like for this post to serve as a reference for all the businesses out there in the world accepting cryptocurrency in exchange for their goods, so please feel free to leave a comment with your favorite business that does, and thank you for taking the time to read my post!

Apollo Currency P&D and Scam Accusations Answered by Founder Stephen McCullah

This will probably be my last topic on this subject. It is only fair to provide APL's side of the story, which is a published response to the several of red flags that have emerged about this project - most recently orchestrating a Pump (last week) and Dump (yesterday). The Apollo team and especially the Apollo community REALLY want everyone here to see this, so I will provide it here, as it seems most of them don't have enough karma to post on this subreddit (note all the auto-removed comments in yesterday's topic). The article where the founder, Steve McCullah, addresses these concerns is here:http://bit.ly/2FUCi52 free to form your own opinions. I will post mine below in the comments.

And for those of you who are going to chime in the comments with your bullshit statements like: "So what if it's a scam, just make your money, and leave." you no damn well that's not how it works! The creator of the shitcoin, and a select crew work with shitcoin exchanges to get it listed. Then they create a huge campaign about it, get it hyped up 100x, then the exchanges don't allow all the idiots to dump by saying things like you can't do that right now, or fake fuck-ups, and the creator and his small crew ride off into the sunset with millions of dollars post dump.Listen to me buds... you're not smart... stop thinking you can get one over on these scammers, because you can't... they control the scam from start to finish!

The Apollo Currency Team (APL) just engaged in a massive pump and dump scheme, dumping hundreds of millions of coins on their investors

My last post was removed by the automod for having the word "Mega-thread" in the title. I'll repost everything here so people are aware of what's happening and continue to provide updates. We are still waiting on a response for Steve McCullah, the founder of Apollo, or anyone from the Apollo Currency Team.__________________http://bit.ly/2FOKtjg tried to warn everyone two days ago. But now here we are, it's too late, the team has cashed out. Most of you saw my recent post here about all the red flags of the recent Apollo cryptocurrency - the way they censored their social channels/Telegram, how they encouraged their members to stock up and and BUY and banned anyone who talked about selling instantly. How they actively pumped up the price of their coin the past couple of weeks through fake news and shill armies. That's not why we're here.I was just online when I notice a sell order on the APL exchange. Wait not just one sell order. Many. And then I went to the other APL exchanges. Same situation. Suddenly tens of millions of APL were hitting all exchanges all at once in a massive dump that sent the price shooting down over 70%.I immediately went to the block explorer. The Apollo block explorer features no rich lists for obvious reasons, so I knew I had limited time to find the dev’s accounts and their transactions that would cause the dump in the history. Low and behold, I found a couple of them: http://bit.ly/2MmEEuD didn't continue to go back in time on the block explorer, but you all know where to go look if you want to find the team's accounts now for this "anonymous" currency. I checked the balances on several of those accounts and some had around a billion APL, with the others having hundreds of million. The only people who own anywhere near this much are the Apollo team (and possibly John McAfee, lol).I will continue to edit this and add information but want to get it out there now while this is happening so people can start discussing it in here.Previous post from 2 days ago if you want to catch up on what's been going on up until this point: https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/ai5b62/apollo_apl_is_a_massive_scam_and_you_are_all/Updates7:10 AM update: APL Telegram Channel put on read-only mode for 10 minutes7:25 AM update: Re-enabled, the admins are now threatening to mute anyone who mentions anything about the dump and encouraging people to "buy cheap": http://bit.ly/2CCJBe5 AM update: They are BANNING everyone from the telegram who tries to talk about the situation in a negative light, asks a question about what happened, or tries to ask any of these questions over PM to another member: http://bit.ly/2RGZ2fW PM update: Bitmart's entire exchange has went completely offline as well (the main exchange for trading APL). APL is now only actively trading on Coinbene. To Check Statuses: Link to Bitmart. Link to Coinbene.9:10 AM update: APL Telegram is saying everyone is buying APL on Coinbene (only active APL exchange left right now) to get back in. However, every one of these "buy" trades is actually just a wash trade and never actually appears on the exchange - it's conducted between the highest bid and lowest ask. You can watch the order book for 30 seconds and look at the prices of the last "buy orders" to confirm that this is wash trading.9:14 AM update: The APL founder Steve McCullah is finally in the Telegram, he has not acknowledged the situation yet and has said "everything is great": http://bit.ly/2MoEt1M AM update: Steve confirms everything will be fine and includes rocket ship emoji's in his post to ensure his loyal telegram followers that this coin is still going to the moon: http://bit.ly/2sHvL5U

Also please state the market cap and where it can be boughtNOT A SHILL, DON'T FEEL OBLIGATED TO READ, I WANT A SERIOUS DISCUSSION OF NEW COINS TO BUY If anyone cares(and for example) mine is LMC. The working product of LMC is LoMoStar, an app with tens of thousands of daily users. You get airdrops in the app, people give away crypto in the app, there's a T2T exchange, gambling and betting, bounty channel, and social media aspect all in the app. The use case of LMC is PoS, gambling, buying things in app and trading pair in the app(investing in ICOs and businesses in the future). The market cap is $1.08 million. It can be bought on BCEX or in the LoMoStar app(for way under market value)Please don't call anyone a shill or put down projects, I want to find what everyone thinks is the next big thing

Post hot words in posts with positive comments, I'm sure token abbreviations are read by bots. (Btc,eth,ltc....etc.). Every negative comment makes brings the market down further.

How will Blockchain tech help solve this problem? (Banking)

Hi AllI currently work for an investment bank, and we are facing an interesting problem in on-boarding customers.Without going into too much detail, there are instances where we need access to “original” documents, provided by clients, before on-boarding them. This is mainly for high risk clients based in foreign countries. We require a specific type of lawyer to sight and sign off that the copy provided by a particular company is indeed identical to the original. Then, this certified copy is mailed to us, and only then we may continue with the on-boarding.As you can imagine, this process takes 1-2 weeks to complete, and causes quite a bit of frustration:Any error in the sighted copy will result in rejection, including having the wrong type of lawyer sign it off;Lawyer fees. Just to provide this stamp/signature.Documents lost in the mail.Again, this legacy process applies mainly to high risk, foreign, customers and the industry hasn’t bothered investing in stronger processes/infrastructure.So, let me ask the community, how can blockchain technology solve this problem?
