HODL For Long-Term Tax-Free USA Gains!

People are always complaining about crypto and taxes, and few seem to be aware of the great gift we’ve been given provided that our crypto moons after we’ve held it for more than one year.Did you know that if your income is low enough, long term gains are not taxed at all? That’s right, a long game term capital gains rate of 0%This effectively means that if you buy enough crypto and moons after a year, you can sell all or part of it tax free if you earn little enough in the year of sale (so quit that job in advance to be safe!)For joint returns you need the income to be below $74,900. For individual returns, $39,375. Double check those numbers before making any decisions. So, before you harvest those tax losses, remember, if you plan to repurchase, you restart that 1 year clock and if your crypto moons within the year, you won’t be able to take advantage of the 0% tax rate assuming you otherwise could do so.Also, income includes stock dividends so if your protocol is large you may need to adjust the stocks you own. All of this is kind of a fantasy, but how cool would it be to have mad gains that are tax free, so long as you retire and don’t earn too much!

Only you can fix this

Recent threads here on /r/cryptocurrency have prompted me to write today.More and more of us here are beginning to see the writing on the wall regarding the transparent (and therefore, 100% surveillance-friendly) nature of almost every single blockchain out there. And that is good. Because this should concern you. At least if you want cryptocurrency for personal freedom, individual liberty, self-sovereignty and greater control over your own personal affairs. If you're in this game for "mad gainz", then do both of us a favor and stop reading now, you'd be wasting your time. But if - to press the point - cryptocurrency fascinates you for the possibilities opened by being your own bank, the master of your personal finance, and sidestepping the mass-surveillance dragnet massively catalyzed since 9/11 (terrorism serves as the eternal excuse to chip away at civil liberties and privacy, as undoubtedly you have by now at least suspected).. then consider this.We are up against big, alien, and unclear forces. Who exactly is pushing for the extinction of privacy - online and offline - is somewhat unclear. It certainly involves many of our elected officials, who dine and wine with other elected (and unelected) officials around the world, dictating from above (FATCA, CRS, war on drugs, war on terrorism, war on cash, war on this, war on that) what the unwashed masses must accept .. or else.At some point you have to ask yourself. Are they really doing what's in your best interest? Are they really concerned about your well-being?Do they want you to succeed and become the best human being you can be?I think the answer is a resounding NO.This totalitarian gang seems mostly interested in dictating what you can and cannot put in your own body, what (correct, you see) opinions you may or may not express, increasingly what you can and cannot read online, where you can or cannot spend your money. And in the mean time, they would very much like (and for the most part have successfully achieved) to know who you talk to. What you read. Who your friends are. What opinions you hold. And most relevant to this subreddit - where you spend your money. (But make no mistake, these points are all connected)This is totalitarianism at its core: the base, ugly human desire to use power not to raise yourself and others, but to control, micromanage, and dictate from above. It is the way of the tyrant. The situation for individual liberty and personal privacy is dire. The Internet is under extensive mass-surveillance "to keep us safe", the government has databases on everyone. This is a gross violation of civil rights that we have become numb to. Apathy towards this tyranny sets a very dangerous precedent.YOU must be different. Only you can fix this.We need you to become the best you can be. To educate yourself to the fullest extent you can. To learn from the great masters - past and present, to realize that tyranny has reared its ugly head before, and surely will once again, unless good people everyone unite and say: not on my watch.I urge you: don't let them take your privacy away. The tyrant wants full visibility into the life of every citizen, because then people are scared: scared to read the "wrong" things, scared to voice the "wrong" opinion, scared to stand up and fight, because with full visibility, we become atomized. It becomes easy, trivial even, to pick us apart. This is one of the great tasks of our generation. To dismantle the surveillance state. There is plenty of historical evidence available. The time for this beast to be slain is yesterday: it will only keep growing, feeding on your life force (you are paying for your own enslavement through taxes) like a parasite.Better stop it sooner rather than later.Or one day, all that you take for granted right now, will vanish before your very confused eyes. You will realize, you've been had. You will come to know the true meaning of slavery.Only you can fix this. Reclaim your voice! Reclaim your privacy! Educate yourself! You have vast swaths of mankind's knowledge available from your pocket today! There are no excuses!Get strong! We need you. Liberty hangs by a thread, when will enough be enough?

Poloniex locked everything, stole $1000 of coins from me. How can they get away with this?

I had about $1000 in various cryptos in the poloniex exchange. I was kind of upset when they shut a few cryptos down and effectively stole my coins (disallowing both trading and transferring out). But I didn't think that would happen for the major coins. They've now apparently locked my account entirely, when I log in the page is blank except for the banner. None of the pages load anything except the banner after I log in...Did poloniex seriously just steal $1000 from me? So that's just it? I look away for a few months and now it's all gone? I had another exchange do this a few years ago too. This is unacceptable. Where is the accountability? Where is the justice? People just outright stealing entire exchanges and just getting away with it? Literally robbing banks with no repercussions? How can crypto grow in this environment? I can forget that money and let it go, but someone needs to go to jail. Poloniex stole my money.

[PSA] Don't use weak 2FA on an exchange

I know its been said he dozens of times before, but if your looking for 2FA options, don't settle on Google Authenticator or SMS unless there is no other choice. The list of worst to best are as follows:No 2FA - Bad because anyone with your userid/password may gain authority over your exchange account.SMS 2FA - Bad because any employee of your mobile company can port your number to themselves and possibly succeed in a password reset.Google Authenticator (TOTP) - Bad because the codes are universal tokens good for many seconds. Any keylogger or phishing site could use those few seconds to impersonate you to get a login token good for hours, days or even weeks of account access.U2F / FIDO2 (Yubikey/Trezor/Ledger) - No U2F/FIDO hack has ever been theorized or observed. This technology is the only reliable 2FA, all others are flawed as listed above.Even better than all of the above listed methods are to simply keep your funds on a hardware wallet and off any exchange. Not your keys, not your coins.A recent example of a GA 2FA hack.A recent example of a SMS 2FA hack.

Bitcoin, Libra, & Central Banks: A Conundrum

The prospect of a recession in the US and Europe is being priced in to markets everywhere (as of October 2019). Some countries are already in the midst of financial chaos—think Venezuela, Argentina, Turkey. As is usual in the face of such worries, the gold price has lifted. So has Bitcoin—up substantially YTD.Bitcoin critics are numerous, and have long been vocal in their claims that the project is criminal, or will fail, or that it offers no lasting value. Despite this, the market remains robust, and to date the Bitcoin blockchain has performed perfectly since its inception over ten years ago. New features to improve access, utility, and performance are being developed, and this track record, along with the blockchain’s complete transparency, which makes it a poor vehicle for criminal use, is an effective recruiting sergeant. The network metrics show that Bitcoin is increasingly popular. Several large financial corporations now offer their clients exposure to the crypto market, and to Bitcoin in particular, through plain custody as well as derivatives. In light of future financial uncertainty, most commentators expect further value flows into cryptos, and especially Bitcoin, which enjoys the majority of the sector’s liquidity and capital value. With the discussions about Facebook’s Project Libra very much in the news, we are at the point where central banks are now considering how to respond to the advent of natively digital money. Whether the banks tokenize their own currencies directly, or adopt a mutual coin—perhaps in concert with other central banks or through the IMF—it seems certain that within a few years millions of people will be interacting with the financial system through programmable money rather than the “dumb” fiat we’ve all been using for centuries (and which will certainly continue, in parallel, for years to come). There will be numerous problems to overcome, to be sure, (for instance, many of the profit centers of commercial banks are obviated by crypto and so-called De-Fi [de-centralized finance] at a stroke, so such a momentous move must be carefully planned), but the advantages and efficiencies are substantial—too great to ignore.Switching to a digital currency regime does throw up some interesting issues. For example, at present, very few ordinary people do any “carry trading”—where you borrow in one currency to invest in another. The exchange rate risks are obvious and you have to be on your toes. But anyone using a tokenized currency can easily swap their depreciating national-currency tokens for another kind that is scarcer and which appreciates. This means that people could keep their wealth in a coin that appreciates (e.g. Bitcoin), and spend in their local currency (euros, dollars, etc, that depreciate) with their wallet making the required exchanges on the fly (if exchange is even necessary—many merchants will simply accept the appreciating currency). In other words, a sovereign digital currency that slowly depreciates (as they traditionally do) will inevitably be exchanged for one that is deflationary. Because the costs of doing so will be close to zero, and users’ wallets can make any necessary exchanges on the fly, the risk of loss due to exchange fluctuation is also close to zero. There are other questions that digital currencies throw up, such as how central banks avoid putting retail banks out of business. Doubtless the Game Theorists are having a ball.As a result, the adoption or introduction of digital currency means that the existing monetary policies of sovereigns will have to change—and will surely have to be much more aligned with other nations. The standard 2% inflation target, for example, will have to be dropped. Seignorage by commercial banks will no longer be possible in the conventional way. The implications for structural debt are obvious and alarming. In short, governments are likely to be extremely cautious about adopting digital currencies, because although the advantages are substantial, the potential downsides are severe. The debate about whether and to what extent private institutions should be allowed to determine monetary policy or the money supply will intensify. The chances of any government ceding control of these levers to private hands look extremely unlikely in the current landscape. So for the coming few years at least, Bitcoin is the go to coin for people wishing to hold some of their wealth in a digital token. There is the possibility that one or more central banks will begin to hold some BTC as part of their reserves. This would obviously have a large effect on the market, so any such measures would probably be taken very gradually and secretly. There are good reasons why central banks—probably acting in concert—would buy BTC, not least to allow them to control this vital section of what will be a larger digital currency market in the future. Moreover, purchasing a controlling stake (which would be much less than 50% of the available coins) now would be a relatively trivial expense (perhaps 50 billion USD). Doing it in 5 years’ time might not (>500 billion USD).If Libra doesn’t launch, then something very like it will, and it may be Chinese. This fear alone will probably drive US regulators to give Facebook a path to operation. And once we’re all using Libra to pay for everything, in any country, where will we put our savings, in this zero-rate environment? What instruments will offer the best return? Bitcoin may have a long way to go yet.

How do you sell a million dollars bag of crypto? Would you trust exchanges?

Hey. Just wondering. Let's suppose there's another monster rally and our bags are worth a significant amount of money. By significant I mean 6 or 7 digits. Maybe $250,000 ,maybe $700,000, maybe $2,000,000. You know. How do you sell your cryptos? Would you trust Bitfinex, Bitstamp, Kraken or Binance to sell your bags there? And if you withdraw the money they actually pay you those large amounts of money? How law could protect us from being scammed?

Open Letter to The Financial Services Comittee: Mark Zuckerberg says Libra/Calibra is "not applying for bank charter", but they are legally required to in Switzerland. Zuckerberg has potentially lied to you all.

First and Foremost feel free to correct me if I am wrong or misinterpreted something!Context, 2 hours 11 minutes: https://youtu.be/B1a5h5KncNM?t=7827 - listening for 60 seconds, you will hear him say that they are not applying for bank charter. The congressman he was speaking to makes a reference to Switzerland. Zuckerberg mentioned that they had plans to operate Libra/Calibra out of Switzerland.https://ift.tt/2N60djT you download the PDF on the FINMA website, you will see that anyone who is raising capital in excess of 100 million Swiss Francs (about 1:1 to the USD, source - https://ift.tt/2oWYLbz) must apply for a banking license. That is clearly written on the first page of the PDF. We know that every company that raised capital for Libra ended up paying Facebook / Libra 10 million USD apiece. If there are 21 founding member companies, then that makes 210 million USD. 210 million USD > 100 Million USD / Swiss Francs. Time to apply for that Swiss Banking License...Now then, granted Mark Zuckerberg is a reptilian human being, it is likely that he did not well-verse himself in what papers they need to apply for in Switzerland. But on the off chance that he said this intentionally, he just lied to the Financial Services Committee.EDIT: I work for a centralized exchange that is in the process of launching. That is how I know all of this information.EDIT 2 Reason: adding more context.

There is basically none.THIS should get you REALLY worried.Blockchain ( or more specifically cryptocurrencies) still remains a solution, looking for a problem. And nothing is even at the horizon to change that.See you in 2050 when Bitcoin is at 15k.HODL!

Google Quantum Computer - Talking seriously

I am going to point out I am a Computer Engineer and I presented a project a few years ago (10) on Quantum Computing talking about DWave (the company Google bought). At that time DWave had a 7 or 9 qubit QC.QC can break private keys. They do this by solving a math problem, product of primes. Example:3 * 5 = 153 and 5 are prime numbers. 15 is the product. You can see 15 as a "public key". 3 and 5 as "private keys".A QC can, in theory, "test" all numbers and find the prime numbers (5 and 3) just by giving the product of the primes (15).But there is a huge catch"In the published article, Google explains how the 53 qubit internally developed quantum computer – Sycamore – was able to perform a calculation in just 200 seconds. Their benchmarks suggest that this would have taken a classic supercomputer around 10,000 years to carry out the same calculation."53 qubit is still many orders of magnitude lower than any real application encryption.I want to point out 53 qubit do not reduce the security of bigger encryption algorithms. A 54 bit encryption is not going to be break in X interations of the 53 qubit. In other words, to break a 54 bit encryption you need a 54 qubit. To break RSA 1024 you need a 1024 qubit quantum computer which is still pretty difficult to built. And at this point you cannot just add/chain quantum computers together to form a bigger QCs.I am guessing we are 15 years from a 512 qubit and 25 years from a 2048 qubitA 2048 qubit would be pretty dangerous for us right now. But let be honest, in 10 years we might have already changed our encryption to a stronger one.

New event! Answer the questions to earn subreddit prizes!

Hello r/CryptoCurrency! Today, I'm announcing a new initiative that we are testing out on Thursday at 7pm CDT. We hope it will be a lot of fun for you all!In what we hope will become a weekly event, we will have a livestreamed Kahoot with multiple choice answers. Redditors are rewarded for answering correctly in the shortest amount of time. Questions will be related to cryptocurrencies generally since this is the cryptocurrency subreddit. Some will be easy, and others will be difficult. We're initially testing a quiz with 15 questions, or about 30 minutes of play.We will open up a submission shortly to accept user-submitted questions. While we may change these questions slightly, users who submit questions may have an advantage if some variation of their question is chosen. Help make our lives easier and reduce our workload! The first event will be here at 7pm CDT ThursdayWhen joining, please join as your Reddit username if you want credit. Offensive names will be kicked.I deeply apologize that the time isn't convenient for most Europeans, but at the moment we are limited to mod availability. If this is successful, we will try to free up other time.We hope that this event will be a fun way to learn more about cryptocurrencies! Here's a hint: most of the questions in this first quiz will be related to Bitcoin.See you there,Justin

what are some of the pros and cons on countries accepting USD backed crypto vs also taking Bitcoin et al?

I'm in a debate and looking for more information on both sides...I personally come down on the side that while accepting USDC is a great initiative, organizations around the world should also be accepting Bitcoin et al, even if they settle that currency immediately to fiat (I'd personally hold on to 5-10% in crypto, but that's just me).It feels as those people operate as a "want their cake and eat it to" mission statement. They want to look progressive by accepting crypto, but only crypto tied to the USD. Well, that's not really what crypto was designed for (in my opinion and many others) and it doesnt really drive innovation if you're basically looking for a single Gov to decide the value of your currency. Also, USDC just seems like a layer of bureaucracy stapled onto US dollars, not a shift in thinking or capabilities. Now, that being said I'm not against USDC, and perhaps the innovations we're looking for in crypto will still manifest in a USDC as we are seeing in Bitcoin, ETH etc...But at present I feel it's a bit of a cop out. Looking for other opinions on the topic.

Why are we not talking about DeFi!?

Crypto always seemed like a bit of a pipe dream to me until early this year.Peer to peer decentralised digital money that can't be shut down, with transactions that cant be blocked. Is great but it has one massive problem. You wake up to -10% on your money's value on a bad day and -30% on a really bad day. The price going up seems great but it's just as detrimental to mass adoption as price going down because for something to be day to day money you need a stable price. To me, crypto seemed to suffer from a paradox. It needed mass adoption to have a stable price but couldn't have a stable price until it got mass adoption.Alternatively you could use centralised stable coins.. but that takes away half of the entire point in crypto. Then DAI came along. A decentralised stable coin that's backed by smart contract loans. (No this isn't a shitcoin shill, because I make absolutely no money from people buying/using DAI because it's not an investment anymore than the US dollar is.)Dai has all the components of bitcoin but with a stable price. This pretty much solves the paradox I referred to. DAI can bring in the mass adoption because of its stable price, which intern stabilised the cryptocurrency it runs on. In this case ethereum.Recently I've been reading about ETH 2.0 and how they are creating 1024 shard chains meaning ETH 2.0 can do 1024 x 14TPS = 14,334 TPS.If ETH 2.0 goes smoothly then there's absolutely no reason why people can't use DAI as money today, it will have all the benefits of fiat money and all the benefits of crypto. What shocks me is I've seen nobody talking about this in this subreddit and its probably one of the most revolutionary things to happen in this space. All you guys seems to want to talk about is minor progress on small cap coins that have tone is issues to solve before they can even be considered as an alternative to the top ranking coins. It's fine to talk about those things but I think we are missing a lot of the decentralised finance stuff going on in this space right now.

Best survey sites for crypto?

Was going to post in r/beermoney but they ban these posts.I would like to invest in bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency as I think it will grow greatly in the future, but as I am under 18 I have to go through my parents to buy it legally. My parents don't want to go through the effort to get approved to buy it, aren't optimistic about the future of bitcoin/altcoins and don't want to give coinbase/cashapp the information needed to buy. So the only way for me to get it is by using faucets (extremely low pay), solving cryptocurrency puzzles (don't know where to start), or by doing surveys.I know gg2u.org pays out in bitcoin and I currently use this site, but withdrawing to bitcoin requires a coinbase account. So are there any survey or GPT sites that I don't need to be 18 to withdraw as cryptocurrency? Thanks for your help in advance!

Researchers uncover Lightning DoS attack vector

https://ift.tt/2MAr7RP simple Lightning DoS attack vector seems rather obvious: A Lightning node offers cheap fees, many other nodes connect to it, then it goes offline. In order to free their trapped funds, nodes have to then close their channels, which costs on-chain tx fees. Especially in a scenario with high fees this could be quite damaging.Solutions could be some sort of reputation system for nodes, or just connecting to large, well-known nodes.

Maybe that seems obvious, but I assure you, it’s not. Especially the second part. That power has always rested with the divine right of kings and nation-states.Until now.Now that right returns to its rightful owners: The people. Cryptocurrency can be a great investment for young people

Putting a large amount into crypto all at once is gambling, period. However if you are young, healthy and have an income. Cryptocurrency can act as a great high reward/high risk long term investment because you will have the ability to buy each month with small amounts and will live long enough to ride out any major dips in the next 10-20 years.Ofc nobody should exclusively invest in only cryptocurreny. But adding it as part of your investments each month could pay off.I never worry about whether the price is going up or down or side to side.I put 2.5% of my income per month into crypto, 2.5% into stocks and shares funds. Then 5% into cash savings. There's a lot of money to be made in this space but there's also a lot to lose of you become emotionally attached. Play it cool and invest small each month.. For example if you put just $25 into crypto each month and your holdings value increases on average just 50% per year (not unheard of in the cryptocurrency space) for 11 years. You will have $141,000.

A question for those of you who have been in Bitcoin/crypto since the early days.

How do you guys feel about where we are today?I didn't get in the space until mid-2017 and the end of that year was just crazy in terms of the hype level. It felt like a new project was being announced every day. Innovations seemingly happened at an even faster pace. Mainstream adoption appeared to be right around the corner. Then crypto winter hit. Projects died and the space slowed to nearly a halt. Mainstream adoption seems much further away than it did at the end of 2017 and positive news that should move the market does absolutely nothing.I still believe the future is in crypto and I'm continuing to add to my positions of the projects I'm interested in when I can, but I just wonder how much longer it will be until the general public uses this stuff. Thanks for reading!

Are there any reliable sites that are easy to use? I have some gift cards laying around I don’t think I’ll ever use them.Did some googling, and was only able to find some suspect looking ebay-type sites. Seemed like more trouble than it is worth, and I am not sure how they prevent scammers.

Opinion of Gods Unchained, the ethereum based card game with potential to rival hearthstone

I've been playing this game for the past two weeks and thought about its potential. You may of heard a lot about Blizzard banning the professional Hearthstone player, Ng Wai Chung (aka Blitzchung) after he voiced his opinions on Hong Kong protesters. Not only was Chung banned, but Blizzard also kicked him out of the Grandmasters rank, eliminating all his winnings in the process.Fortunately for him, Gods Unchained, the digital trading card game where you can trade cards you purchase or earn for real-world currency, stepped in to support him with the following tweet:@Blizzard_Ent just banned @blitzchungHS and stripped his Hearthstone winnings because they care about money more than freedom. We will pay for ALL his lost winnings and a ticket to our $500k tournament: no player should be punished for their beliefs. #freegamingGods Unchained gave Chung a second chance by repaying all of his rightfully earned winnings from competitions that blizzard decided to take away for showing support to Hong Kong. This act along with the community showed amazing support for him and empathize that Gods Unchained is being driven by ethical individuals, unlike hearthstone. The fundamentals behind this free to play digital TCG is truly unique as its based on the cryptocurrency ethereum network, allowing complete and total ownership over the cards you earn or purchase. This allows players and collectors to trade cards for real-world currency or other cards freely. A true breath of fresh air in the stale digital TCG-Industry. The feeling of having true ownership of my cards brings me back to the days of my childhood card games, experiencing the thrill of opening packs of cards that you truly own thanks to Gods Unchained. As a result with Gods Unchained, by buying cards/packs you will not lose all your money in exchange for the permission to use the digital cards in a game. You become the owner of the cards and as a result can trade them with whomever you want, for a price that someone is willing to pay. Hence with Gods Unchained, buying cards is more of an investment than an expense. There are 380 cards in the first genesis set, with 4 rarities (Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary) and also 3 different levels of shines/foils, Shadow, Gold, and Diamond. The first edition "Genesis" card packs are only on sale until the 29th of October 2019, after which they'll NEVER be purchasable as packs again. There may well be black lotus style once in a lifetime cards currently available! There is also the option to purchase genesis chests containing 6 genesis booster packs which can be held onto and traded freely after the 29th. Tradable, sealed packs (or chests in this case) was the most heavily requested features for as long as the game has been around and now the developers of Gods Unchained have delivered! To compare, sealed packs in Magic The Gathering garner huge collector interest to this day.As you can imagine with 380 cards in total of this set, the combined scarcity and demand of some cards could go through the roof depending on how the meta develops!Alongside this, as you play and level up you will unlock core cards and will earn tokens to the Genesis raffle. Each token gives you another entry into the Genesis Raffle. Win rare, tradable items, including a Mythic Card which is fully unique and only one exists of. The last mythic card which was auctioned off went for over $60000! If you are not interested in the raffle then it is possible to sell these tokens for ethereum.Aside from the clear investment-aspect of the game I have really enjoyed playing it for the past two weeks and have great confidence in its future due to the strong community, everyone is happy to help new players. I felt like a valued community member even when I first started despite not knowing anything. There is also a championship on the roadmap with a $500000 plus prize pool!I recommend giving the game a try and seeing if it is for you. Especially If you have enjoyed Hearthstone in the past, I can not recommend this game enough as an alternative. Anyone who loves card games and isn't agreeing with the avenue other card games on the market are taking (looking at you hearthstone) will fall in love with Gods Unchained. If you want to check out the game yourself you will need a beta code, please use my beta-code linked throughout this post to register. It is much appreciated! If you need some additional information to the cards, gods, abilities and game-modes available, the developers themselves have a great guide for new players here.See you on the field! Happy playing and collecting!

Buyer Protection with cryptocurrency, what projects aim to achieve this?

I am interested in crypto buyer protection. To my opinion it's a needed to step to get cryptocurrency to the masses. Without paypal or credit card protection, it's simply too risky for consumers to buy something, as they might want to purchase goods at a less reputable seller or at a second hand store etc. Basicly have protection against fraud or lost packages. So i am wondering, what projects are out there to achieve a form of paypal buyer protection? I know utrust is one, but since a recent clash i also want to know alternatives.

Submitted October 18, 2019 at 11:11PM

uTrust is one of the worst echo chambers, banned without warning when discussing tokenomics.

First of all it all started with that i got muted from the uTrust telegram after i said i got my first bag of UTK tokens. i then contacted some administrators and they said it was a mistake and i got unbanned.A few days later, someone asked "hey everyone, what wallet would you recommend?" and my responses were deleted because an admin told me "he was asking utrust, not you". So people are silenced in their responses. Then today there was a discussion regarding the tokenomics of UTK, where i shared my opinion that UTK didn't have a lot of utility usage for token price growth, because UTK was'nt needed to use the platform. refunds are made in UTK, and i also said i expected people could later convert utk from a refund back to the original pirce. having my doubts if UTK would really be a good asset for that. Then i got banned hours after, without messages in between. I then opened a reddit thread on /r/UTRUST_Official asking why i got banned, what rule i broke with my telegram username, and i got a automod message that i got banned from utrust reddit as well. A modmail and contacting 2 telegram admins resulted in no responses what-so-ever.Moral of the story, be positive about UTK on their community. If you are not, you will be banned without a warning. Also don't try to engage in other topics, admins know best about what wallet you should use.Screenshot about the conversation about the wallet: https://ift.tt/2BqsX17 can't give messages about the public group anymore since i got banned.Just a general warning about utrust. I like the project and hope that they will rethink their communication/community engagement.....But feel free to shill me on alternatives now that you read everything anyway :)(mods: i gave the flair "finance" since i dont know what other flair would suit this post)

Decentralized reset password, seed backup by trusted party multisig?

There are so many cool crypto-projects out there. We can decentralize everything, from citizenship, to control of autonomous organizations and ofcorse owning assets. This all requires a private key. The problem is people really suck at keeping track of important papers. If we are serious about a decetralized future, all your assets, maybe your income, any memberships, digital reputation and citizenship would be bound to your private keys. I have imagined every household having a safe where you keep this and that parents teach their kids about the flowers, bees and the private keys. But this is not enough. With the current best practice (hardware wallet+paper backup) if you lost your private key. You would loose all those things. Imagine if even Facebook didn't have a reset password button, that would be unacceptable.I imagine a solution, where X of Y other private keys can be used to regenerate your private key. For example 3 out of 5 people. Typically this would be family members or close friends. If you are wealthy, you'd probably have professionals also, maybe lawyers or notaries and more people needed to sign, Bill Gates might have like 60 out of 100 or something. ofc your specific setup is not public knowledge.I can't do the crypto-math, so I'm not sure if this is possible but ideally this would just be a standardized algorithm, not a new coin or so. You all meet up and recieve a specific signed message from the people who you trust and the algorithm can use those to regenerate your seed. You could have a seed reset family-party!

What is the worst cryptocurrency you've ever stumbled upon?

I was just wasting my time looking through all the 3000 coinmarketcap coins listed on it. I couldn't believe the amount of shit I saw. That really got me wondering, what's the worst cryptocurrency you've ever stumbled upon in terms of website/whitepaper/idea's/team etc? I would really like to know how much trash is listen on coinmarketcap. My pick would probably be something like BitcoinSV, but it's quite known.

What is the most exciting thing going on in the crypto space right now?

This question is of course what you as a subjective observer find interesting.I haven't kept up so much the past 6 months, so is there anything new?Are people still talking about Bitcoin addresses going up, Steemit, BAT, MKR and similar DeFi projects, ETH Sharding, "EOS, Tron and other smart-contract platform launching mainnet but adoption isn't really increasing"?Is there anything new and interesting going on?

Defi 2.0 - revolution? Nope, yet another pyramid dapp.

So per their site, on Friday they've launched another pyramid game. What's surprising is that they called in Decentralized finance 2.0. Is it a joke or are they trying to use the hype around DeFi to their advantage?Do you think it's ethical to call projects like this? Aren't we all on the same boat and should move the industry forward instead of falling for a quick buck?
