On This Day In History...

This time last year Ethereum flash crashed to 10c from $320. The order book wipe out hurt many investors before Coinbase announced they would pay back affected users. On this day 5 years ago this was the top 10, I was deep down the rabbit learning about Bitcoin from the few talking about it such as Andreas Antonopoulos and Roger Ver.https://ift.tt/2KBeN0j

Australians, you need to start buying as much crypto as you can.

I’m Australian, this isn’t meant to be an alarmist or sensationalist post, but the economic situation in our country is a lot more serious than most of us think.First off, the current economic situation.Simply put, our economy is fucked. Our housing market is dangerously overleveraged and because of policies by our government at the time, we never experienced the correction the US and most of the rest of the world did during the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. And now the chickens are coming home to roost. Australians are up to their eyeballs in debt, almost half of the housing loans are interest only, it’s the reason the Reserve Bank of Australia hasn’t raised the interest rates since 2016. Because as soon as they do, even by 0.01%, tens of thousands of Australians are going to default on their mortgages. It’s no secret that our housing market is one of the most expensive in the world, and anyone living in our country already knows this. The market value of Australian homes is 4 times the GDP of the country. Our housing market is beyond the point of saving and the bubble is about to pop. And while our mainstream media is trying to convince us that it will deflate slowly, history paints a different picture. And that’s just the start of our problems. It’s no secret that China is our biggest trading partner. We rely on China more than any other developed country in the world. And what is currently happening on the greater global stage? Our most important military ally has engaged in a trade war with China, and the effects of that trade war are starting to be felt. Chinese stocks are in freefall, and that’s only going to be the beginning of the negative effects from Trump’s hardline approach to dealing with China. It doesn’t take a genius to see that this is going to have a devastating effect on our economy. Our biggest trading partner is having a financial gunfight with the USA, which is going to result in them buying less of our stuff. And still that isn’t the end of it. Mining is down. Commodities prices are down. Our manufacturing sector is almost dead. The only thing we have going for us at the moment is agriculture and that can’t prop up the entire economy. You wanna turn white? Read this article from last year. Our economy is teetering on the precipice. You think I’m being dramatic? Well even the Australian MSM can no longer ignore it. With articles like this appearing almost on the daily. Our dollar is in serious trouble, anyone who knows the slightest bit about TA go look at the graphs in that article. Our country is in serious economic trouble. And we don’t know shit about it because our media is a duopoly that makes most of its money from their real estate arms. All signs are pointing to our dollar about to be worth a hell of a lot less than it currently is.What can we do?Since this is the crypto subreddit the solution to this impending economic shitstorm should be painfully obvious. Buy fucking Bitcoin. Not the solution for the country, for you. The country isn’t going to do shit for anyone of us except saddle us with debt and a cooked economy that is going to take generations to get out of, if ever. So we should be diversifying. Sure buying gold probably isn’t a stupid idea either, but if you think that is proof against state intervention, read a history book. Even then, gold still needs to be converted into cash to be useful, and anyone paying attention can see that Australia is gearing up for a war on cash that borders on tyrannical. The only way for us as individuals to protect our wealth at the moment is to convert it into cryptocurrency. But Bitcoin is low at the moment! No shit. But if you think it’s going to stay that way you are 1. In the wrong subreddit, and 2. No paying attention to the macro factors of crypto. Wall St is gearing up to enter. The bank that runs the world is getting involved. And not just American banks. Bitcoin may be low now but if you know anything about market cycles, you know that it’ll be back. Here is a good comparison of BTC a few years ago as opposed to now. It’s almost at the point where it’s irresponsible not to be buying bitcoin, and I’m not the only one that holds this opinion. Worst case scenario, bitcoin falls to USD 3k. What do you think is going to happen after that? Bitcoin and crypto aren’t going anywhere and you’re kidding yourself if you think that the value of bitcoin isn’t going to be much higher in the years to come.Of course the RBA is telling people that Bitcoin is dead, probably because they don’t want Australians to dump their soon to be worthless fiat currency. In fact one any given day you’ll see a bunch of anti-crypto propaganda on our MSM. The same MSM that has been telling us all to buy as many houses as we can for the last 20 years. The same MSM that up until now hasn’t said shit about the direction our economy is heading in.The writing’s on the wall people. If we keep our wealth in AUD it’s going to be worth considerably less sooner rather than later. Our property sector is going to crash, our dollar is going to crash, our personal wealth is going to be stripped away from us. If you want to avoid this, if you want to protect your wealth, ensure a future that isn’t financial hardship, then we really only have one choice. Buy bitcoin. Personally I am converting half my pay each week into BTC and just holding it. Not putting it into alts. Just btc. I’d advise you do the same as well. I understand that this sounds super risky. But if you read the articles I’ve linked to in this post I’m sure you’ll see that the only risky move is doing nothing. This isn’t a joke or a false alarm. The notion that our economy has always been fine up until now isn’t valid anymore. If you want to protect your personal wealth and purchasing power in the next few years, you really should be buying as much btc as you can while it is this low. This is what crypto is for, avoiding the negative financial downturns of specific countries. It’s a globally traded commodity that is accessible by anyone with a computer. Our economy tanking isn’t going to affect the price one bit.I hope some of this has been useful. Listen to me, don’t listen to me, it’s your choice. But this is the digital age, there’s no excuse for ignorance anymore.

This Market is Amazing

Every one trying to find reason for the bear market. Let me tell you. There is no reason at all. None, no conspiracy no whatever. Go to CMC, make a 6 month clip of the total marketcap. This market has been in a bullrun since the middle of 2015.This 6month time frame is the only time in the last 3 YEARS that crypto hasnt beaten the stock market or any other type of investment asset. The year is 2018. Cryptocurrency has innovated so fast in such a short period of time. If you sell goodluck to you. If you hold goodluck to you. If you trade goodluck to you. What coins were on coinbase in 2015? LolWas BITMAIN a multi-BILLION dollar company in 2015? LolWas Binance making hundreds of millions in profit in 2015? LolThis is where shit gets innovative and creative because everyone is in panic over price. The nerds, geeks, pussies, (smartest people in the world) stay calm and just do their job like the fucking bosses that they are. These people arent emotional over anything money wise. The only people bitching over price are greedy emotional pussies.Get over the market. It’s amazing.

If you still have a roof and can eat, ENJOY these moments.

First of all,I'm still a student in my 20's. I've been in the crypto space since last year september or something. I've made some good money and lost some good money. I've been buying, selling, joining ICO's. Missing the boat but also catching the boat sometimes. But looking back, it's been a crazy year. But the most important part is, i'm enjoying this crypto thing. There is always something happening, every morning you never know what to wake up to. It made life so much interesting. These are gonna be some great stories to tell to the kids later. It's just money that we lost. I'm still healthy, got a roof and food, family and also bad things of course in live (broken heart :D). I've still got a whole live in front of me and I learned so much life lessons from crypto!!- Crypto made me want to have my own company, not for the monney but for the kick!!- Learned about greed, FOMO, marketing, fear, media power, manipulation power, barging, etc..Some advice, crypto won't be the only path to earning great money. If you like the kick, don't give up and find a way to make it happen and SMILE while doing so :D!Let's tell some of your great and fun moments of crypto in the chat below!! I'll start!"It was in december and I invested in Enjin coin, told some buddies to invest in it. We hanged out and saw the price increasing like crazy!! We would app eachother in the middle of the night and see messages in the morning MOONN!! It was so funny :D. The feeling was so good and we laughed!! "

Do you own a shitcoin? A beginner's guide.

Looks like it will happen soon where shitcoins worth tens of thousands of satoshis will drop to levels seen only in 2016.Get your money out of those shitcoins. Consolidate it to the few coins which are actually innovating. Here's how you know if your coin is a shitcoin.Visit their github and check their commit history. If their commits are either insignificant like a label change or the last commit is made 2 months ago, then it's a shit coin.If the coin's only purpose is that it is a store of value AND has no integration with any important sites to buy stuff with it then it's a shit coin.If its code is an exact fork of another coin with no meaningful change to the functionality, then it's a shit coin.If they have a fancy site with the words "Decentralized" "Trustless" "Cross border" and no specific use case or adoption, then it's high probability that it's a shit coin.If it has no development team(or group of individual developers actively contributing) or if the team is anonymous.Seriously, dump those coins now. They have no long term value and will be forgotten in less than 2 years. One example of a shit coin that I held was XVC(Vcash). It was listed on bittrex! It had no active development. Had a shitty website. Developer was unknown. Few months ago, it was delisted on bittrex and was on no other exchange. My tokens became worthless overnight even though just days before it was trading at 6k sats per coin. So, these kinds of coins will disappear and now it's more probable than ever.

US Accredited Investor Rules where created by rich people for rich people

Supposedly the rules were created to protect the common bloke. I strongly believe it has been the other way around for most blokes.Vitalik Buterin“ I personally am willing to publicly say that I find current accredited investor rules of many countries, which allow only millionaires to invest in securities, very unfair and plutocratic, and in some cases they can make things actually worse because they mean regular people can only buy in at higher prices and thus more easily become victims.”https://ift.tt/2MQjq80

BE AWARE ONE OF THE BEST SCAMS THAT ARE LIVE NOW "TNB" ( TIME NEW BANK ) TOKEN

All Telegram channels for TNB are scam 96-98%% are bots in EN and CHINA channels. They never told you when they will unlock the other part of lock coins after ICO first unlocking is the number one reason price dropped huge (because about 600 million tokens ware released to free market and they never told people they are going to do it ) before all this big crypto drop in general, they never show transparency at that moment just bullshit stories.Main scammers in Telegram channel groups are ( Keith / Brock [TNB ->1.85$ ] they shill all day and keep the monitor channel so they can bullshit other people. This project is a scam! there are other things to investigate because there is no REAL CEO / TEAM etc.... because there is no literally any 0 proof for 99% things about TNB.TNB paid exchanges to be listed and use scam connections to advertise to scam people into thinking they are legit. Even Orlando Bloom... They ware selling president Tramp time ( YES LOL ) and ( Warren Buffet time ) for shows they are not even invited later they cancel that but time as the token ( TNB ) is used for fake events and legit manipulation. I would love if you can help me reach **Charlie Shrem** because he was advertised this project also but he also knows it is a scam so maybe he can tell us more about it... There is no CEO there is no TEAM only team of well working and organized scammers that are running this coin on multiple REALLY GOOD EXCHANGES.NO CEO NO TEAM ONLY SCAMMERS.

I love the fear and greed of this market!

The Bitcoin price is now ~$6,100 (with a ~$5,900 low) and people are allready saying the price will go to 4k or even 2k. I wouldn't really mind, but guys no one knows were we are going. Last time when we went from 6k to nearly 12k people said we would see the ATH again. It was a possibility, but it didn't happen. All we know is that this market is based on fear and greed. The emotions are even bigger than the stock market. I'm invested in cryptocurrencies, because I believe the current currencies are corrupted. Anyways while the prices go up or down I love reading about all the emotions you guys feel. Keep up the greed and fear. Entertain me! 😭😢🤬😡☹🙁😑🙂😄😁👨‍🚀🚀🌚

I am Trying to Make a List of Cryptocurrency Projects With Working Products. I need your help

Hi r/CryptoCurrency,I have been in the cryptocurrency for quite a while and I must say I am super excited about the coming years.I would like to make a list of cryptocurrency projects that have real use-cases that you and I can use on a daily basis. I also believe that, the more people realize how powerful this new technology is, the less they will worry about the price. So without further ado, feel free to post crypto projects that you know of with working products that everyone can use and test. You can also post dapps that you find useful.I think it is also important that we differentiate between crypto projects for industrial use and individual use. For example Modum has a working product, but it is difficult for us to test. This is my list so far. (I will update it with new entries)Brave browser (BAT) Secure Desktop and Mobile BrowserOyster storage (PRL) Cloud storageAugur Decentralized prediction marketSalt Lending PlatformDent Mobile data lendingSteemit - Blockchain-based rewards blogging platformd.tube - Crypto-decentralized video platform built on top of STEEMBitbay - Decentralized marketplaceBounty0x - Decentralized bounty hunting platformGolem - Computing power shared (machine learning, rendering, computing powerNebula - Decentralized AI BlockchainCryptokitties - Collect and breed digital cats.district0x - Network of decentralized markets and communities (ex. Ethlance )Bitdegree - Online Courses with a gamified experienceFunfair - Blockchain-pwered solutions for the online gaming industry (demo)contributions:MyWish - Create Smart contracts without coding // Dr-TierRequest Network - Accept Cryptocurrency Payments (demo1,demo2) // burstymyI am looking forward to your contributions. Thanks in advanceHave a great dayEdit:I am looking for projects that have a utility beyond payments and store of value. (That is why BTC, ETH, Nano etc. are not on the list. )The reason I didn't add any exchanges is that I am trying deviate from price and trading. There needs to be a demo or dapp everyone can use. If the demo is released at the end of this month then the project still doesn't have a working product everyone can use.

Announcement: BAT/Brave launches first phase of user ad trials for its ad platform that will allow you to earn BAT

Official announcement post: https://brave.com/brave-launches-user-trials-for-opt-in-ads/"We’ve been busy building our new Basic Attention Token (BAT) platform, which includes a new consent-based digital advertising model that benefits users, publishers, and advertisers. Our first phase started last Fall with the integration of BAT into Brave Payments, and enabled users to anonymously distribute contributions to their favorite publishers and creators. We’re now ready to start voluntary testing of our ad model before we scale to further user trials. Once we’re satisfied with the performance of the ad system, Brave ads will be shown directly in the browser in a private channel to users who consent to see them. When the Brave ad system becomes widely available, users will receive 70% of the gross ad revenue, while preserving their privacy.  In June, we’ll be doing opt-in tests with a select group of users to collect insight about the user experience. This test will serve to analyze user interactions with a new way to deliver ads. Around 250 pre-packaged ads will be rotated during this trial and users will be given a special version of the Brave browser loaded with those ads. This special Brave version is part of the test program only. It sends a detailed log of the browsing activity to Brave, which is used as algorithmic test data to check our on-device machine learning. Brave will not share this information, and users can leave this test at any time by switching off this feature or using a regular version of Brave (which never logs user browsing data to any server).Later this month, we plan to run further studies with a larger set of users to improve user modeling and to integrate specific usage of the browser, with the primary goal of understanding how behavior in the browser impacts when to deliver ads. This will serve to strengthen existing modeling and data classification engines and to refine the system’s machine learning. In a few months, we will start expanded user trials, with a focus on the impact of rewards in a user-centric ad system. Thousands of ads will be used in this phase, and users will be able to earn tokens for viewing and interacting with ads.By moving matching from the ad exchange to the device, Brave ads merge innovation with privacy-by-design and put the user in control. Instead of sending and exposing user data to opaque third parties in cloud-based auctions, Brave’s approach enables a more efficient and direct opportunity to access user attention without the inherent liabilities and risks involved with large scale user data collection.Brave pushes ad catalogs (one per region and natural language) to available devices on a recurring basis. Downloading a catalog does not identify any user. As the user browses, Brave locally matches the best available ad from the catalog to display that ad at the appropriate time. Brave ads are opt-in and consent-based (disabled by default), and engineered to operate without leaking the user’s personal data from their device. We’re excited about unveiling this phase of our development, and about rolling out a system that properly values user attention. The current advertising model exploits users and has eroded trust, as well as net revenue to publishers and other creators. We will reward users for their attention while shielding their identities and protecting their privacy. We believe that user data and attention hold substantial value if they are defended vigilantly on users’ devices, and that the transparent Brave ads delivery approach and the Basic Attention Token will provide users a fair share.     If you’re interested in joining these trials, please contact our Early Access group via community.brave.com."

Forbes ranks APEX as first blockchain company in China top 50

Regardless of what you might think of the markets and where cryptocurrency is going, it is good to see blockchain companies receiving these kinds of accolades. if blockchain enabled companies can start to enter lists of real promising businesses then a widespread adoption case must be close at hand? APEX already did business for a few years before they moved into the blockchain space because the technology suited them better I believe, I think this gave them a clear edge in reaching the top 50. I haven't seen many blockchain/crypto companies in relatively respectable lists like this, but please share if I'm wrong.https://ift.tt/2t7a3ss

First of all the audio recording in the FUD twitter post from the reddit thread was intentionally manipulated and slowed down to make him sound more serious (goes to show that it was intentional to make him look bad), but it was really a sarcastic joke. This is the original unmanipulated voice messageSecondly here are Synth's voice messages in response to the postvoice message 1voice message 2Synth is a guy that makes these kind of jokes on telegram all the time and the people who hang there know it.But there are some people who take advantage of that for an opportunity to create FUD.

On bitcointalk i saw a comment about a major partnership announcement coming for David Stern's ICO FanChain. On page 19 of the FanChain whitepaper they say:"At least one major partnership with a major sports entity will be announced soon"This could be huge fellas. for adoption to happen we need real uses backed by legit shit people care about.  Imagine a world where all the major leagues allowed you to buy everything from popcorn to tickets to a crypto that you earned by simply being a fan... I'm starting to realize that the vast majority has not a clue about crypto.

So I am as fresh as fresh can be in regards to crypto. I have just composed my tier I portfolio will a laughably small investment by fiat means. It took me 7 months to finally pull the trigger and am still treading water and attempting to somehow sift through the seemingly endless amount of information. With that said, I am a type of person that has to regurgitate information in form of verbal communication. I have to hear it from my mouth for my brain to click and store the info. Naturally I have sparked up convos in my circle of friends in hopes of receiving a little clarity and perhaps some advice but this was in vain. The FUD and fake shit surrounding cryptocurrency is astonishing.I am back to thinking "how can a dude like me think I could be successful in crypto." I just feel defeated and I haven't even really begun to experience what crypto is. IDK...Anyone else out there feel it's just a lot of information and a massive ICO pool that it's just futile to continue?...sorry for the rant.

Handling Inter-Community Conflict in r/CryptoCurrency

Introduction and ContextThe cryptocurrency space is vigilant and decentralized. It consists of people from a wide variety of countries, occupations, and political beliefs. This subreddit intends to be an integral component of the cryptocurrency community, allowing for subscribers to learn about a variety of projects and opinions.Recently, many users were upset at our response to a post regarding one user’s complaints regarding r/bitcoin. r/bitcoin is the most widely-visited subreddit for Bitcoin news, memes, and other developments. Another popular subreddit is r/btc.We originally removed the post for several reasons. It was regarding another community. It was inflammatory in nature. It was brigaded from a variety of communities. It was not especially high-quality and was better suited for the daily discussion. After some internal discussion, we decided to rescind the decision to remove and locked the comments instead. The comment section had turned into a cesspool of personal attacks and other unwanted content. This is the current status of the post. The decisions we made as moderators were highly criticized. Some redditors accused the team of being “bought off” by the r/bitcoin team and its supporters. Others were upset at us for allowing drama to continue. There were a variety of other complaints that we frankly don’t have the space to cover here.We want to communicate our side of the story on how we try to allow important discussions to be made without compromising on post quality. It’s part of a wider movement was have been pursuing for many months to improve the subreddit overall.Resources in Place to Discuss DisagreementIn general, r/CryptoCurrency does not allow meta discussion. Instead, we direct all relevant discussion to r/CryptoCurrencyMeta. This allows users to voice concerns (and possibly compliments) without these concerns take up valuable r/CryptoCurrency subreddit space. r/CryptoCurrency is one of the featured news subreddits for many redditors; we may lose this status if the most popular posts are merely related to the subreddit. Furthermore, there would be less room for the content most people care about: news, analysis, and other high-quality content. Many communities need additional support. To help resolve communication errors, disagreements, and misunderstandings, we often communicate with other subreddit moderation teams directly. We have an entire subreddit and Discord channel devoted to this communication. We have found this incredibly valuable at communicating with these communities. We can typically stop user uproar before it becomes significant. We want to minimize conflict as much as possible. We should be focused on the broader goal of advancing cryptocurrency technologies and adoption. We extended an invitation to the disgruntled r/btc moderator, and they did not use any of these communication platforms. Instead of working toward an understanding, a r/btc moderator posted several allegations that drew significant attention.Reducing Bias Through PolicyThe r/CryptoCurrency moderation team is supported by individuals with a wide variety of backgrounds and cryptocurrency interests. Each moderator is held to a high standard and is readily assessed on their performance. This performance review includes tests for potential sources of bias.Even with this performance review, we know that there are opportunities for bias. If, for instance, every moderator was pro-SUPERDUPERCOIN (SDUC), we would have a hard time spotting bias in favor of SDUC. We made it a goal to include moderators from a variety of important projects to make sure that several people can check moderator behavior. We feel this has been highly successful.Furthermore, our subreddit has public mod logs that anyone can view. We give users the ability to raise evidence for their case. If they feel that the moderators have done them wrong, they are able to create a case in their favor. The hundreds of thousands of subscribers can watch far more content than the moderators can do alone, and thus we welcome their concerns in r/CryptoCurrencyMeta and in the modmail. We strongly recommend that anyone with allegations back up their claims with evidence. Since we make everything available, we hope that this can reduce the number of unsubstantiated claims making their way around.General Moderation ApproachesIn r/CryptoCurrency, we have not shied away from moderation. We feel that thoughtful moderation increases free speech. It prevents one group from manipulating content to control the narrative. It prevents a small number of cryptocurrency projects from consuming all subreddit discussion. It allows for respectful disagreement in policy while retaining quality content. You may not agree with our decision to moderate and that is fine. However, we hope that you can at least understand our perspective. Reddit includes a variety of subreddits so that many different communities can flourish.Handling Inter-Community Conflict in r/CryptoCurrencyWe have a clear case of conflict here. r/bitcoin and r/btc disagree on a large number of viewpoints. As a community, we need to find a way to represent the opinions of both groups in our subreddit. Many users have expressed disappointment in r/bitcoin’s moderation policies. In fact, many of us moderators are banned from r/bitcoin. We can understand their perspective of vigilantly removing non-Bitcoin posts from their subreddit even if we do not agree with their policies.Similarly, r/btc has been incredibly hostile towards many members of our community. Its members have made a wide number of unsubstantiated claims. While we encourage people to question the motives of others (especially in the cryptocurrency space), we likewise encourage people to collect substantial evidence. Just because we made a decision you may not agree with doesn’t mean that the moderation team is actively collaborating with the Satan himself. We already have the following text under Rule 1: Obey the Golden Rule & Maintain Decorum:No Trolling. Do not make random unsolicited and/or controversial comments with the intent of baiting or provoking unsuspecting readers to engage in hostile arguments. Trolling, in all its forms, will lead to a suspension or permanent ban. Do not waste people's time. It's the most valuable resource we have.We are still deliberating whether we need to make this rule more clear for posts that target cryptocurrency communities. However, we absolutely feel that the post in question falls under this provision in Rule 1 and should have remained removed. It does not matter that it gathered significant attention. We do not need this drama every time some moderator somewhere removes a post or bans someone. We will consider making the rule more explicit in the future, but expect that we will moderate with this provision applying to all posts, including those that target other cryptocurrency communities with the intent to provoke. We will continue to allow posts that critically look into the nature of different communities. For example, information comparing redditors in different communities are allowed. Be careful since the intent and tone matter here; when in doubt, stick to the facts and avoid making sweeping, aggressive claims. Keep your cool: you may have an important point to convey, but it could by ruined if you approach it with the wrong tone.Wrapping Everything UpWe hope that this post has clarified how the team operates and how seriously we take our responsibilities. No one on the moderation team has been paid for any actions, no one has ties to Blockstream, and no one is able to act as an authoritative dictator. We ask that you keep an open mind. While accusations may seem appealing, it is too easy to believe them without verifying for yourself. We ask for your cooperation in politely using the communication channels discussed earlier to discuss grievances and to understand that we have to balance a variety of views in a way that makes sense for everyone.Of course, if you have any other complaints or recommendations, please see the accompanying post in r/CryptocurrencyMeta.Appendixhttps://np.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/8qqmnv/how_are_rcryptocurrency_mods_circumventing_their/ https://ift.tt/2JMPSXa https://ift.tt/2JFeYeF https://ift.tt/2sTAZf0 https://ift.tt/2JxojF1 https://ift.tt/2ydRgRr https://ift.tt/2JF9L6j https://ift.tt/2ydR5oW https://ift.tt/2JFfB83

Crypto is a series of bubbles. And the gigantic one is yet to come.

Anyone with a little perspective will have noticed that crypto is a series of bubbles. Bitcoin bubbles in its firsts years of life were pretty small and fueled basically by nerds, weirdos and lurkers of the internet. Those days the daily volume wasn't even half a million (today: $5,000,000,000). We were only a handful of freaks buying and selling Bitcoin but that wasn't an obstacle for Bitcoin to form bubbles. As Bitcoin reached greater audiences the price increased, reached a new stratum and keep on forming new bubbles. Back to these days. In the bubble we've just seen last December were involved not only a few freaks but also a slice of the mainstream, a small slice. This bubble was fueled basically by millenials, young people, I'm going to take a wild guess here but I'd say the 80% of owners of cryptocurrencies are under 35. In December cryptocurrencies were already easily accesible and easy to buy (hence the spike), but it was actually not so easy for non-millenials and older people. Despite this, exchanges were overwhelmed by massive hordes of new clients, crypto-related subreddits exploded, crypto debates in tv, crypto everywhere, everybody went crazy... and that's what happens when you set foot on mainstream. I want you to focus on the spike that happened in the last November-December fueled by millenials. Some people say that after this correction that we're suffering there's no money left in the world to be put in crypto markets. But they're wrong, and if they get rid of their holdings they're going to miss out the biggest increase in price ever seen in crypto, and we would have to see suicide posts again but not because of a crash, but because of people who missed out and threw away the chance of their life. There's another stage ahead and we're heading to it. The next stage is where institutional money jump on board and renowned investors as well as innovative banks will lead the way. Reputable investment funds will incorporate crypto to their portfolio, spreading the trend to another investsment funds. Banks will start offering crypto related products and crypto investment advice to their clients, just as they're doing now with stocks, forex or pension plans. Exchanges will start to become more professionally managed. More bank-friendly. Institution-friendly. SBI virtual currencies is evidence of this. Even the feared regulations will play in our favor, cleaning up uncertainty and setting crystal clear rules. All these points combined are the flood gates. This is going to get really huge guys. 20 trillion market cap, as someone predicted, is not crazy at all, and remember these wise words: Once the flood gates are opened… all hell will break loose. Which basically means, another crypto bubble is yet to come fueled by the whole financial system. You've been warned on June 2018.

Can we have a discussion about really useful projects based on distributed technology and blockchain, while ignoring the price. Projects without token function are also very welcome

I am sick to my stomach with all the stupid ICOs and nonsense coins that solve nothing. I wanted to have a discussion about some really useful projects in any industry where application of blockchain and some coins actually makes sense. It would be even better if you have some lesser known projects to mention, but the bigger ones are also ok. Let's just ignore price for once and focus on some real knowledge und usefulness.

The quote is captured by CNBC here. One of the key points he makes is "If there is a centralized third party, along with purchasers with an expectation of a return, than [sic] it is likely a security, Hinman said." The key here of course being that Ether is decentralized. It is high time that the SEC clarified their stance publicly. Dancing around the issue was just frustrating everyone. No clarification was given for XRP, which is the subject of multiple lawsuits alleging that it is a security.

The June futures contracts have expired, today is settlement day. Everyone take a deep breath, the worst has now passed.

The settlement price for CBOE's bitcoin futures was determined at $6,276 per the 4pm EST close of the Gemini order book. Traditionally the CBOE monthly contracts, have a lot of weight on the price of bitcoin in the second week of every month. The reason for this is that big players have direct control over price and so will place a short or long with CBOE. A few days before expiration they will dump a large portion of their personal stash to push the price down, insuring that their short order goes through. The reverse of this happened last month, that is why after the second week the price quickly fell from the $9K region - because of artificial inflation to support the whales' long orders. To be clear, I am not saying that it cannot get worse from here. All I am saying is that the worst of the crash has likely passed. Just remember, "be greedy when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy". Judging the sentiment of the market right now with everyone in despair and waiting for a drop into the 5K or even 4K range, it seems the time this is the time to be greedy. Logically speaking, the whales have nothing to gain by letting the price drop under the 6K support and formally validating the long term bear outlook, that would put all of crypto in a volcanic winter for a very long time and would prevent them from making quick money in this developing asset class.I know everyone is deeply in the red right now and it hurts. If you have not sold out yet, please do not buy into the 4K FUD - it would be unadvisable to sell out at this point. Strong FUD like this has historically preceded good bull rallies. Given that the whales clearly shorted this month, it is very likely they are longing the July contracts. Currently the RSI is in strongly oversold territory, so there is a good chance that bottom may be in. With all of this in mind, it may be better to throw in some more at this point and BTFD (if you can afford it) to average down your losses - I do not see the price dipping much lower than this. This is only my opinion and is not to be taken as financial advise. I am not a professional and am not responsible for any actions taken because of this post. Do your own research and please come up with your own opinion. Do not look only to validate what you think, the markets are cutthroat and you need to stay skeptical of everything.I wish everyone the best for the months and years to come. Welcome early adopters. Welcome to crypto. Welcome to the new world order.

Blockchain and Autonomous Vehicles

Has anyone been seeing how blockchain firms such as ShareRing have been making their way into the automotive industry in a major way? It appears that blockchain technology is perfect for use with autonomous vehicles, in other words, in the not too distant future; blockchain tech is going to help your car drive by itself. Autonomous cars are already available by the manufacturer Tesla and every major car company has been pouring in investment funds towards being the next to achieve this goal of self- driving vehicles. This company out of Australia called ShareRing has been making some waves in the auto industry after being chosen by the Mobility Open Blockchain Initiative (MOBI) as the development team to take their blockchain initiative to the next level. This global consortium is a nonprofit that was originally created to see how blockchain technology could benefit the transport industry. MOBI is focused on transport in general including tolls, auto manufacturing, public transportation, and roadway advancements. MOBI and ShareRing teaming up is huge news for both parties involved. If you are unfamiliar with ShareRing, here is a quick synopsis. ShareRing is a blockchain-based platform that basically allows tokenization of any item for sharing purposes. Agreements are configured and stored in smart contracts that live on the blockchain, so they can't be altered in any way. It appears that the ShareRing ecosystem is a perfect fit for additional services such as supply chain tracking, vehicle payments, autonomous vehicle programming, vehicle history, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. The ShareRing concept is backed up by some pretty heavy hitters in the industry. Tim Bos and Peter David are the creative minds behind the hugely popular Keaz platform. This unique system enables companies to track their fleets and share assets with more accuracy and lower costs when compared to traditional business systems in use. There is no doubt that these guys are pulling from this experience to ensure that ShareRing takes flight in a similar manner.MOBI isn't a small organization by any means. To put MOBI's ability to change the market into perspective, you just need to look at the Chairmen of the organization, Chris Ballinger. Chris is the former CFO of Toyota and he is a very well connected individual who has the ability to influence the market through his life-long relationships he developed while heading one of the world;s largest automakers.MOBI and ShareRing are bringing together automakers, suppliers, startups, and government agencies in a way that would never have been possible prior to the development of blockchain technology and the changes are sure to affect every aspect of the transport industry. It appears as though blockchain technology is set to revolutionize this sector and reduce most of the waste that currently plagues the market.Consumers and manufacturers have much to benefit from this merger and it can only help to expand blockchain's reach in terms of global influence. This could be the start of something really big and I'm hoping that one day soon, I will be counting my Satoshis in my blockchain-based self-driving car.

The Market will not recover the way you want it to.

Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster to r/CryptoCurrency.I've been giving Crypto a lot of thought, and had a good look at myself in the mirror when btc started nosediving from 11k. At that point in time I thought 11k was the bottom, and tried to catch a falling knife.Recently, I took a break from looking at the graphs daily, because I realized my mood would always be affected by the giant red bars on my phone. So I deleted my Binance app. Since then I've had time to reflect on Crypto, reflecting on what enthralled me when I first got in. I came to several conclusions. It has completely changed my outlook and re-adjusted my expectations on crypto-currencies in general.Since then, I have cleared away my desire for the green bars, and my misgivings that this is something that would make me the Laurens Bancroft of the 21st century. What came in to replace these thoughts are below, shared with you.1) Herd mentality hurts us more than it hurts them.I come in contact with 3 kinds of people in my life, and these can be categorized into 3 different groups: People who want to see Crypto succeed, people who don't, and people who don't care about Crypto.I was part of the initial group at first, and now I've come to realized that in order for Crypto to succeed, we cannot exclude the people who don't care, and the people who don't want Crypto to succeed. They are an integral part of how Crypto is going to make it in this world, and we cannot ignore them. We cannot be an elitist club of people who think ourselves as a Master-race that will eventually trump all.I came to this conclusion during Chinese new years, at a dinner table with relatives. The conversation slowly swung around what all of us had achieved during the year of 2017, and I had said that I was an avid follower and investor of Cryptocurrency. My relatives were shocked. Some of them tried to dissuade me from investing, others listened with interest with what I had to say. It was then I realized a common denominator among them, it was that they don't understand. They don't understand how blockchain can change our world, they don't understand how block-lattice technology has the potential be the ultimate weapon against corruption, they don't understand how Cryptocurrency can bring humanity to places never ventured before. But they are interested.Over the period of the dinner I slowly but surely watered the plant that is now their newfound interest, answering questions to the best of my ability, but at the same time not critiquing their beliefs. I do not talk about the banks, I do not talk about politics, I talked about the wonders of Bitcoin, and the benefits that can be had with it.2) Adoption incentives. Unlike many of the inventions that have come to advance humanity, the benefits of Cryptocurrency cannot be felt by myself, or by you. Not in the short term anyway. The effects of Crypto will not be felt in a drastic way, but instead, gradually change events that were normally out of our control. We humans adopt things quickly if they are either one of 2 things, they improve our standard of living immediately(e.g getting a car or computer), or provide an immediate incentive(e.g. credit card frequent flyer points). Crypto is neither of them, and that is why it is a long uphill battle to convince someone to take on Crypto, when all it seems to do is add on more trouble for them.Being centralized has a thing going for it; few people can make decisions to create incentives for a small loss, in order to exploit an even bigger gain. In Crypto, no one is able to do this, and won't be able to without a centralised figure making decisions for us small guys.No one seems to have a viable solution to this, which brings me to my 3rd point.3) Moon boys. We all want to be on the ride to the next moon, the FOMO is strong, the memes sustain us, and every piece of news directly affects whether we see a red bar or a green bar. Now the feeling is subsiding, and all that is left is pump and dumps that out of our control. As a normie that doesn't have the power to control these events, I can only watch as the price gets manipulated. But this is what I signed up for. I believe that I'm not just holding an ordinary piece of money. I'm holding the future. I am holding the blood, the sweat and the tears of thousands that came before and thousands that will come after, because I believe in them, I believe in the idea, and most of all, I want that future, for me and for my descendants that will come after me. This isn't just about me, it's about advancing mankind.I believe in a future where Crypto will make the world a fair place for all, a world where corruption and power don't belong to someone we are forced to vote for, that my voice can be heard among the billions. Crypto doesn't align with my monetary objectives anymore, it aligns with me politically. This leads to my conclusion. I know that the recent drops have hurt us all, but it's time to look past it. I think it is time to look at what we are holding on to. Is it for the money? Is it the stubbornness? Are we truly here just to take fiat from others at a suitable time? If you manage to find your reason for holding on, I think your resolve be will strengthened.I look at my Crypto from time to time, and all I see is the hard work of the people who have created something amazing, and I feel honored to be part of this journey. And I will continue investing as much as I can, be it money or time, to further this project.
