Decentralized cyptocurrencies are a challenge to scale and there are quite a few different methods used. The Nano protocol utilizes a gossip style protocol for transmitting votes and blocks to all nodes and is what enables extremely fast block propagation and confirmation times. However, it has one drawback in that it results in duplicate messages in order to ensure redundancy and a quick propagation to all nodes. The following proposal aims to leverage the Principal Representative structure in Nano's Open Representative Voting (ORV) consensus mechanism to optimize the network messages and reduce the number of vote messages processed by voting nodes by 80-90% while maintaining the same extremely fast confirmation times.https://ift.tt/39H7Sj7
