Realistically, what does cryptocurrency need to succeed?

In some ways it feels like crypto is right on the precipice of mainstream adoption, just look at how many people got in on it so quickly in 2017. It literally blew up, people are aware of it.I feel like the technology might actually be catching up to the hype too. With the tech now allowing near instantaneous payments at nearly 0 cost. Improvements are being made daily to accessibility too, the new Samsung phone supports crypto out of the box now!So what do we need out of crypto right now to push it over the edge? These guys seem convinced it needs to become legal tender.I don't really know that I agree, it seems like we could potentially leap frog over government entities entirely in the process. It's never been done before, but I can see it happening. Any other thoughts?
